So 1 new blades can do how many sheep. B4 sharpong? Thx
@Colleen-ln7wk3 жыл бұрын
I remember my dad doing this over 60 years ago now. I cannot recall just how many sheep he had. Not many. He only farmed for a year or two. But I do remember the sheep. Bringing little lambs inside the house when the mother died and bottle feeding them. Until I ran across this video, I had nearly forgotten. Thanks for the memories. And you make it look so easy. :0)

@kerrysupporter4 жыл бұрын
You had great control of the sheep and made it look easy. It’s not that easy. It’s easy to cut them if you not careful. Good video
@DanielCheney4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Kent has been working with sheep his whole life so for him it is easy. Give it time and it will get easier.
That ewe was just so chill. If I tried holding one of my goats that way, they'd have an emotional meltdown.

I think that the sheep don't mind being sheared as long as they're being sheared gently.

Thanks for this!!! It helps a lot to see a shearing done slowly!

Trust me it is not that easy. We started shearing small flocks a few years ago and still not this fast and this isn't that fast compared to those new Zealand boys.

This helped a lot! I'm trying to research on sheep because I might get some. What do you feed them? Would it work for Clun Forest Sheep?

There not Suffolk’s although they are probably a Suffolk cross with a texel or something. Pure Suffolk have flat ears; and their heads are bigger.

definitely!! As isicat points out, bottle fed and preferably paired up otherwise they'll panic when nobody is home and bleat day and night like ours did at the start! As far as personality goes, it's similar to cats/dogs as in breed, the company that it has, and the attention you give it. They can show very high levels of intelligence if trained the right way, our sheep understands many commands, knows his name, is walked on a lead, and shows off when children are around.

My sheep (Called Shelly) keeps squirming and trying to get away whenever I shear her . It looks like she is really uncomfortable. is there a way to make it more bareable???
@DanielCheney12 жыл бұрын
@sarahlovespeople I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have no idea why it is entertaining. I assume because we are curious about how stuff works and this video shows us how the wool is collected from sheep and what the sheep and shearer go through to get the job done. So our curiosity is satisfied, we feel we learned something new, right? What do you think?
