So prophetic! I remember feeling the same all throughout the early 2000's , when he music industry rightfully collapsed, and all true music lovers gladly watched it burn. Sadly, I think much of that setback was temporary.

Really, this dude has no clue about writing lyrics with a melody. He just spits thousands of words in a single line and forces them to fit in. Sounds really absurd.

Don't worry guys... it's now 2021 and we see the crumbling of society around us. Hollywood is shit, music is shit, television is shit... it's happening... it just took a while.

I'm a big fan of Josh Middleton and this album in my opinion has the best Josh ever but, not ever forgetting the quality of all the other members of the band. This album has been in my top list since it came out. Awesome!

I remember one of my friends in high school who was also into metal - it was either 2007 or 2008, it was definitely before this album dropped - suggested I check a band I had never heard of called Sylosis out, which I did on Myspace, of course, because it was 2007-2008! Their first EP is pretty great, and definitely showed how much talent this band has and made it obvious that they'd be an internationally-relevant player in the metal scene one day in the near future. I remember the song Slowly Consumed stuck out for me probably the most of any of them for just kicking major ass and having great guitar work. And the "CHERRY PIE" part that there's no way Jaime is actually vocalizing but it sure sounds like it on Manipulation Through Idols, that got me the obligatory unintentional laughs that every metal album has at least one example of. Anyways, then Conclusion came out and I was definitely a big fan of it from a guitar player's perspective and just a general metal fan perspective. Really no complaints about the album on any level. And the guitars are in E standard, like all Sylosis, yet it still manages to sound heavy and in a modern way. It might not have been breaking any new ground musically but it was done very tastefully and that made it not breaking new ground not matter at all. I remember hearing somewhat recently after it happened - soooo I guess late 2009, or early-to-mid 2010s - that Jaime wasn't gonna be handling vocal & Josh would be handling that and the guitars for the next album. I was skeptical at first, but when I actually heard Edge of the Earth all the way through a few times I think, hands down, that's their best work. It doesn't have the clean vocals that Conclusion had, which is a bit disappointing because they did it in a tasteful enough way that it didn't turn into a metalcore sound. I'm pretty sure it was mainly the brilliant guitar work that gave the album a unique, memorable atmosphere and that kept the vocals that had little variation from getting tiring or stale through a 14 track album, which is no easy feat - particularly in a genre like metal where the vocals can be abrasive, especially after listening to it too much. I remember the track Eclipsed really wow'd me on the first listen. And the bonus track Earth's Dust was great too. I understand why they didn't include it on the final, official cut of the album, but it was too good a track not to release to the fanbase in some degree. I still haven't had a chance to catch them live yet. I live in California outside LA though so it's only on international tours that I'd get that chance. I guess the point of this rambling wall of text is that it's cool to genuinely have followed an actually good band back when they still hadn't even dropped their first official, full-length album yet. Not an easy thing to do when you were born in 1991! And yes, Josh Middleton is a highly talented guitarist as well as a solid vocalist as well. His vocal style is powerful and heavy but not too abrasive or something you have to kinda "learn" to like. As far as his guitar playing skills go, I'd even go as far as saying he's one of the best guitarists across the entire modern metal scene. He is very technical and can shred with the best of them, but he really excels in tasteful, melodic, emotive solos and his riff-writing is heavy but still easy on the ears compared to others in the genre. I wanna end this on a less positive note so it doesn't sound like I'm fanboying here: Monolith was great, not as great as Edge and possibly not as great as Conclusion, or probably a tie. Monolith still had many memorable moments and tracks that got many repeat listens, but I will say that after Monolith I haven't been as interested in their latest work. I can't even recall the name of the album that came after Monolith. I probably didn't give it enough of a chance but it didn't immediately catch my attention the way all their previous work had on the first listen. Maybe I'll have to return to it and give it another playthrough.
