Bobbie this just popped into my feed so I took a look. I like sailing and I like the Greek area for sailing too. I have popped the bows into the entrance of Navpaxtos (1:09 to 1:27) a couple of times but never managed to get to a vacant berth there! What time of year was this? I will have a look at your other stuff now. :-) Nice vid.

Thanks for the feedback Norman which is always appreciated. We had sailed from the island of Kos in the Dodecanese and reached Nafpaktos around the 20th May. The weather was mixed and we had a hard time of it in the Gulf of Corinth with winds from the West. A depression East of Sicily brought strong SE wind, rain, thunder and lightning and poor visibility but took us the 35 miles on a broad reach from Mesolongi to Andisamos bay on Cephalonia where we anchored for the night. It was my first trip down the Corinth and a stop at Itea to visit Delphi was a must. Galaxidi was already busy. The sailing season seems to start earlier and end later each year it seems.

Bobbie G Agreed about season getting earlier - Galixidi is one of my favourite stops - was storm bound there once for three days - had a fab time and did Delphi too.

Apologies for the quality at the start as I was using an iPhone 7 to take the video and the sea was a bit choppy

Wonderful video. The easiest and most affordable way to experience that is by renting a yacht through Airbnb.

harsh and jarring music made it unrelaxing to watch, not what I want when viewing a sailing video of this type, so I quit about a minute in, sorry.

Your video nailed 100% what the Aegean is all about (I live here). I hope many nice people all over the world enjoy the Aegean and other seas... we think we are "land mammals", but personally every time I get into the sea Im starting to doubt it :)

+Dimitris Tripakis --- I've been big on the Carribean and the Sea of Cortez, though this makes me want to plan a trip to the Agean! ... now if I could only find a boat...
@dimitristripakis73649 жыл бұрын
+drx1 xym There is a whole fleet of sailboats for rent in the Aegean. There are many tourists that fly to Greece specifically for sailing with a rented boat. As far as I know there is a whole indurstry involved, boats, agents, cleaning services,, etc. (I am not part of it). If you Google or ask around you will find many websites. One of the best destinations is Cyclades, an archipelago of 33 islands, right off Athens, most of which are less than 10 miles apart. Its a dream situation to be in!

Fantastic! Will watch this in the dark dank days of our English winter. Love sailing but live so far from the sea! Can I make a music suggestion? Have watched this against the soundtrack of Lambchop - Up The People (Zero 7 Remix). The best sailing music ever!

Ah, Amorgos (I know that shipwreck)... I've sailed to that island and I've absolutely loved it! We sat at a taverna to eat something and the waitress started to laugh with us. After a couple of laughs I've asked her if her husband wouldn't mind her cracking jokes with a bunch of sailors and she asked me how old I think she is...I've looked at her, honestly thought she was 35 or something so I've lied through my teeth I wouldn't give her one day above 22... In reality she was 16, that bad she looked!!!...well, that moment I've realised I'm a complete idiot. When a woman asks you how old is she cut half the number in your head or avoid numbers at all...

+GorillaProduction38 wow you really dodged the bullet there and i wish you had a picture lol its kind of hard to imagine
@GorillaProduction389 жыл бұрын
+Salem Saberhagen I know I've dodged a big one or maybe not, if I really think about it. Who can tell how thick should be the milk layer in a cappuccino or what is the real texture of a tzatziki salad? I find comfort in the idea that I've shared most of my meals with my fellow sailing buddies and maybe every one of us is carrying right now a ginormous tapeworm in his asshole... Damn it, I know I've should've kept my big mouth shut!
