Best automatic transmission in a ATV, it’s a shame they got rid of it.

Because the bearings fail and are not replaceable. Then the hondamatic unit costs as much as buying another used ATV.

I got a kit a bunch of years ago now for my 2001 Rubi. Used to be made by Warn but now made by Wide Open. Search this (Drive Shaft Switch Out by Wide Open for Honda Rubicon 500 4x4) or this (Honda Rubicon 500 DSSO / Warn 424) rather not post the links & you'll find what you're looking for.

i think when the pompe plate is perpendicular to the motor shift, the output speed shoud be zéro (<no input pressure >The gear ratio 1/1 ?! 🙄). The engine brake is not possible I think 😅(In vacuum the fluid transforms into Gas🤔)
@davethemagnificent25764 жыл бұрын
I have one that has went out or something. It'll take off in forward or reverse then start grinding and stops soon as you give it gas. Thought it might be the hondamatic transmission but it's doing it in reverse also. Any ideas?

I noticed there’s bearings on both swash plates + both piston barrels when looking at a diagram. Anyone know where the actual input relative to the pump side is? What is driving it? In the schematic looks like swash plate rotates around a given angle, but doesn’t wobble. What transfers the torque from the outer casing to the output shaft?
@user-pu2zp2ke2l4 жыл бұрын
The pompe swach plate does not rotate, anly ther angle change. In motor side the pistons rotate. In the other side the pistons are shifted with the output, the plat is static
@bpoirier20024 жыл бұрын
ahmed bout so does the pump side plate wobble like in the video ? How would the pump side press down on the pistons to transfer the fluid?

This transmission works amazing.If only Honda put it into a quad with better suspension travel. I hated automatics till I tried my buddies Rubicon.I loved it and went out and bought one. 13000 km later and not one problem with the engine or transmission. Once you go Hondamatic.. there's no going back to shifting gears or belt driven automatics.Just like the auto trans in a car but smoother.

I own 1, well, he forgot to mention that he rear suspension is soft, aswell as in front. And gets low on the 6th gear. Feels like you're still on the fifth. It feels really hot on the left side of the leg where radiator fan blows hot air from the radiator. But for the cheap price, it is worth it.
@user-lq4jg2gv9w10 жыл бұрын
never went farther than 160 km before I had to refill. Mine is now 1 year old, 5000 km, it stalled once, when in a curve. Never happened again. We bought it to replace a 50cc scooter that we used mainly when on vacation and striggling with the logistics of whitewater-kayaking: you need a vehicle at the exit to get back to the entry-point. It does its job & fits nicely enough on the RV's rear mounted platform, weight still within specifications and I (166cm) can ride it. Don't think you can expect to get more for that price.

Honda shouldn't call it a CRF bike, it's really a XL250. It has none of its brother CRF-X, CRF-F and CRF-R characteristic.
@DamYankeeOutdoors10 жыл бұрын
It has the same styling in the frame, chassis, plastics, and over-all looks. That's why it is a CRF. It was built like the CRF's.

TheUltimateFish A Proper CRF has an alloy frame, this new CRF is nothing like the original CRF, it should be an XL 250. it has given the CRF a bad name. its a shit bike in comparison
@mtube62010 жыл бұрын
wheeliehigh that's the shame of Honda who took this tactic of naming a bike 250L in the same bloodline of superior brothers of real CRF. The 250L is great for putting around town. It's heavy for a 250cc at 320llbs, better known as 'Little Red Pig'. There is a ready demand for a 350/400/450/500cc dual sport bike but it seem honda and yamaha refuse to offer any of that. The 250L was made for the asian market where 250L is suffice for their crowded, short distance roadways.
@DamYankeeOutdoors10 жыл бұрын
wheeliehigh It's a "shit bike" for doing what the other CRF's do... Just off-roading. Things were changed in order to make it a decent bike at BOTH. With this, it cannot be great at both, it can only be great at ONE. That's why. People who actually think about that realize that it's a great bike! Just not for hard-core things like the just straight up "dirt bikes."

The bike is priced at $8500USD and $9000ABS after the dealer screw over it's going to be 9,500 - 10,000 grand out the door. Now this is a bike that's supposed to be taking over the 650 class next to bikes like the FZ6R which is 7.8KUSD and the Ninja 650 which is 7.5K USD Why in the flying f*ck would someone buy this bike? and spend nearly 10grand on it given the sh*t load of other bikes you can have in that price range ... which is practically every bike that's better than this one? I totally dig the not every one wants a supersport but even real touring bikes and I'm talking 1000cc bikes are still prices better than this things. Honda is marketing this as a youthful "sporty" bike for beginners and experienced riders by they have it at the price of a professional bike? This is what kills me about the Motorcycle industry and why sales have been declining on bikes because there's less new riders making purchases and per-existing riders just buying used bikes. Motorcycle prices are ridiculous and these bikes depreciate like dried sh*t. They don't hold value for anything. It's like dip 1K a year just for owning it. Everyone knows that and still these manufacturers bump bike prices up to compensate for their losses. Honda has put out 5-6 different entry to mid level bikes now including this one with a new 300 coming out soon and the prices on all of these bikes are sh*t. Even the CRF250L that was priced right before is now up by 500 dollars making it no longer worth buying. By the time you're done with the dealer you might as well have brought a WR250R that's purpose built and get the better components than a reworked CBR250R converted for off road use. These guys don't know how to price or market their bikes for jack sh*t. This is another overpriced Honda bike made in India from the same cheap parts all the other non Japanese made bikes built in their cheap ass factory. If you want to put a 9K price tag on a bike than give me 9K quality. Not a 5K bike that feels like a 5K bike but cost almost 10grand to own.

@TheSkullSlicer10 жыл бұрын
