Seems like a huge inefficiency to use anything but 8 axle flow boys on a job this big and open.

Some states don’t allow flow boys to be that large and carry that much weight so they may not even have that option.

Do you guys usually just contract your dump trucks?
@piedmontpavinginc
@piedmontpavinginc 2 ай бұрын
Yessir! We have two on our paving side and two on our concrete side that normally run with us and then any after that are contract trucks.

Faster paving! Plus we have light poles scattered throughout that we have to adjust for when we get closer to them.

I think you need a dozer. That CTL is way to small to be spreading stone in an area that big.
@tristenklein5940
@tristenklein5940 5 ай бұрын
Exactly!! Needs finish grade dozer ie CAT D3 D4 or D5. It would be more profitable to rent a dozer and park the skid steer.

Your curb and gutter goes down have James River bring out the Sonic tracers new Sonic on one side for the curb use GPS on the other side that way you'll be true all the way around I run a 672 in Richmond far as I know I'm the only one that does this in the Richmond area you can call Blair at James River and he can give you the lowdown keep up the good work thank you 🇺🇸🚜

A 333G or any other large framed CTL with a level best GB108 with wings, will run circles around any small dozer for finish grading. Trimble earthworks with autos on one of those is tough to beat.
@dan__________________
@dan__________________ 4 ай бұрын
@@ChaseLandMgmt Any small finish grade dozer with autos and Topcon or similar will get it done in a 1/4 of the time, and reduces the compacting time needed. CTL's are for landscaping. Source, I have a 323E and a 650P.

@@piedmontpavingincif you tried a cat 262d with its milling head attachement as a rental for a day you might find yourself trading in the deere, i can crawl on curbs and use hydrolic tilt and mill 99% of corners with no issues, bobcat none of the others have the speed or eff of that. Rubber tire ftw 😂

No wonder he likes Fords if he only keeps them 2-3 years for his concrete workers; he sells them before he has too many major breakdowns. A diesel RAM or Chevy would last easily 200,000 miles without too much trouble, especially down South with less salt-causing rust.
