Those holes in the leaves are probably from the Japanese beetles eating the young leaves when there are no other better food like rose, cherry, etc. This doesn't hurt the persimmon tree at all, just cosmetic.

Great looking tree, I just planted one a few weeks ago. I already had hachiya, saijo, fuyu and giombo.

What a nice Richardsimmons tree you have got there?.
@wmoy85073 ай бұрын
Yellow leave proves my previous comment that the pot is too large for such a small tree and plant is receiving too much water. Need a much smaller pot and increase in size as tree gets bigger.
@wmoy85073 ай бұрын
Wow such a big pot for such a small tree. Soil will stay wet too long in such a large pot and may get root rot.

What size is the new container? Is there a reason to grow jujube and persimmon in containers? Wouldn’t it be 1zone above its hardy zone if in containers?
@myfruittreeszone74 ай бұрын
Hi there, the containers 25gal but i don’t remember the dimension. I’ll measure it next time. I was planning on doing a video update today but it’s raining all day. My big itchy persimmon tree is in the ground. The baby Nikita’s is in container. I heard some jujubes roots are strong and invasive so I put them in container. I have other personal reasons as well. You do have to water more in the containers. Thanks for checking out my trees.
@jingwang91134 ай бұрын
Thx. The biggest is 15 g at HD. Where do you get the 25 G that’s sturdy enough for moving around? I was concerned about the invasive roots too.

@@trippingwithpippy2317 I believe Nikita’s is a slow growing tree but from what I’ve seen so far, it is way too slow for me. I got mine from burnt ridge nursery. Got too excited and didn’t pay attention to the size. I laughed when I received it. We had snow a few days ago but I’ll check on it soon. Yeah good luck to both of us!!!

It’s a young tree and it only keep whatever fruits that they can support.. also if too much rain then the fruit will drop due to they suck in too much water
@hollynguyen38619 ай бұрын
Also don’t keep the sucker from the rootstock because is just a wild rootstock( not real type jujube) and the tree won’t be healthy if the sucker took all it nutrients

Your tree looks so healthy. I can't wait until mine gets mature enough to start producing fruit. I bought one last year from a nursery but she does not look very healthy. I had 50 buds and lost all gradually. Last 2 fruits fell off yesterday. My other 2 trees from a mail order nursery were just planted and it's looking amazing so far. Thanks for the updates. Love seeing the progress!

This is what ours looks like this year! Lots of little budding fruits like that - first time since we planted 3 years ago. But I think they're all going to drop, some are starting to brown/shrivel a bit. But it's never flowered yet. Aren't they supposed to flower first before fruit? This thing is fruiting but never had any flowers.
