This is a cool kit. I picked up an Aquabats PDP New Yorker for $150 new and have been really pleased with it. I got it with the intention on having something small for home practice in a tight spot and the ability to bring it to small jam sessions and so far it’s been perfect for just that. For recording and general practice I use an EAD10 which has been huge. It sounds like I’m playing a full size kit because of the triggers and effects, in fact I had to throw a blanket in the bass and threw on a Remo SMT because it was just too bass heavy otherwise. As much as I like the New Yorker I’m thinking about selling it and picking up this Midtown or a new Breakbeats… I just can’t get over the Aquabats theme lol. As for the Breakbeats, there were/are two versions, one that WAS basically a novelty kit that was most suitable for a child, and the other being much nicer and designed for anyone else… it was actually a great kit and offered a really nice looking oyster wrap as an option. Ludwig has now since made improvements on that design and makes them with wood bass hoops (as opposed to plastic), 45° bearing edges and higher quality claws and other hardware.

Best review ever! I have been playing a Double with Power Glide Cam… and I have always felt that “i’m not that good playing fast double bass drum”, specially for syncopated rythms, but everytime I play other double pedals, I control like hell! So I decided that I’ll get the new Rolling Glide Version for more control. I’m good with the Power, but feels kinda weird, kinda with latency. Hate the power glide cam hahaha. Thanks for the great video. Was thinking to get the speed cobra (it has the rolling glide too, but the angle looks similar to what the power glide does, so, Im not taking risks).

Awesome video!! I am trying to decide on ad/da converters for my soon to be mastering room, and I am torn between Crane Song and Burl... I really don't know which way to go at the moment. I am also GREATLY interested in the dual subwoofer setup as you have shown in your own studio.

Thanks for watching! We'd say that the dual subwoofer setup is totally worth it- you won’t look back after taking the plunge! @@FuzzywallzMastering Thank you for quickly replying! I will totally keep you guys updated on the room and setup! And thank you for the advice regarding converters! When it comes to D/A, I am thinking about two Solarises -- one unit to feed the signal to the analog chain, and then the other unit for monitoring (and I'm thinking of acquiring an Interstellar for the A/D). ----- One question I have though is how do you use your Solaris for monitoring with the mains and the subwoofers? I know the Solaris has two sets of outputs, and so I am wondering if you hook up your mains to Solaris's first set of outputs and then connect your subwoofers to Solaris's second set of outputs. No rush on the answers, thanks! Also, do you plan on making more videos in the future? Such as gear reviews, studio upgrades, etc. Thank you!

@@FuzzywallzMastering @FuzzywallzMastering Well, anything and everything that haven't been covered yet by other channels and Izotope themselves. This one about RX statistics is a great example of that. What I am particularly interested in is for instance in depth tutorial of spectral denoise with that bottom "Advanced Settings" tab explained or maybe De-Reverb module in depth ... and if you want a pretty challenging request then something that KZbin is missing is a one full length tutorial that would show in action each and every single module from RX - or in a form of short videos, each devoted to a single module.

Maybe you can help me. I bought a Tama imperialstar for my first kit. Great set imo for a beginner like me. However, I'm pretty sure the kick pedal, hi hat and stands are the cheapest you can find. I want to upgrade the kick pedal. Do you know this difference between the hp900pn vs the hp900rn? Edit: lol. I think it's pn for power glide and rn for rolling glide
@FuzzywallzMastering
@FuzzywallzMastering 6 ай бұрын
You're correct, the rn is for rolling glide and pn is for power glide. I have not used the pn (in the video I explain that I wanted a more 'standard' feel without the addition speed assistance), but if you're able to try both a local shop, may be best approach? I would bet you'd be happy with either, the pn might just take a little more 'getting used to'. Let me know what you end up going with either way and how you like it. Thanks for watching!

@FuzzywallzMastering 7 ай бұрын
@@paulsapp3214 If you're asking if one can make a beat and then separate out the individual elements for bouncing. The only way I know how to do it is to either mute everything except the element/“stem” you want, bounce that and then do the same for each element. Either that or SOLO each element and bounce individually. To my knowledge, there’s so easier way, but I could be wrong!

Lovely room and a great combination of monitors. I was constantly thinking about pairing the solo 6 with a sub and use as full range for mastering but i did not see anybody else using in a mastering setup with this combination. 1. Can you share your final room size after acoustic treatment. 2. How far are you sitting from the monitors and what do you think is an optinmal distance for mastering and mixing in a well treated room like yours with this monitoring combination. 3. Can you share your experience with any other monitors comparing to this setup. 4. How low does the speaker go and how detailed and comfortable are you in mixing the low ends and how does it transalate outside. Thanks in advance. Never seem to find this combination elsewhere. Sorry for the long questionaire :)

Thank you, we love the setup. 1- Can’t find the exact measurements at the moment, but its going to be right around 240 sq.ft / 2,200 cubic ft. 2- the primary listening position is about 6.5 feet away from the mains. 3- Nice timing on this question, actually we very recently we had one of the tweeters go out on our Focal Solo6 Be’s. While waiting for new (gen.2) Solo6 Be’s, we had to run our “backup” monitors, which are JBL 308. Let’s just say that the difference was night and day,..The JBLs, while loud and bassy, etc. but just sounded weird and no where near as focused or balanced as the Solo 6Be’s. Now that we have newer, gen.2 Solo6 Be mains...the sound is even better than before. Hopefully we can get the older Focal monitors fixed and keep THEM as the backup pair ;). 4- The low end in this room and with this speaker setup is amazing, Everything we have mixed or mastered translates pretty seamless to the outside world. Last we measured, we were seeing very usable response down to the 20Hz area. Our setup is very unique, but it is quite deliberate and wouldn’t work in every room. Thanks for reaching out!...

Audix's signature is clean, unmuffled sound. To be a clean mic, it has to be quick to start asnd (maybe more importantly, quick to stop. Yes, I here that the bass and highs are slightly boosted, that's good sound on a kick drum. I also hear the muffled sound of the others, and the others resonate longer. Watch the camera vibrate with your recording! Listen to the D6 while you watch, it puts out sound while the camera vibrates. The others continue putting out sound after the camera stops vibrating, that is not clean, its "muddy".
