Great memories thank you so much. When I got to Germany in November of 1976 my unit HHB 2n Bn 81st FA was temporarily stationed outside of Baumholder at Camp Aulenbach while our barracks were being renovated at Strassburg Kaserne in Idar Oberstein. I left Germany in 1978 on an Emergency PCS due to a death in the family. I will always have fond memories of such a beautiful country except for Grafenwohr and Hohenfels.

thanks much enjoyed. I was an 82c10 there 80 - 82 HHB DIVARTY 8 ID. Worked in survey information center under E-6 Kaiser. Spent a few weeks in Wildflecken working the numbers for recovering trig points. Your not an American soldier till you have your Baumholder jacket and your Graph hat... was a saying there back in the early 80's.

I was stationed there 1975 to 1978. Three years. I was 11Bravo. Arrived as a 17 year old private and left as a 20 year old Sgt. E-5. I look back now and I was so young but didn't know it. C Company, 1/13th Infantry, 8th Infantry Division. I heard they have since been deactivated. I spent 20 years in the military. I am a Nurse now and retire for real from all working in two years and am going back to visit Germany, Baumholder and the base.

We lived there in the 90s for 3 1/2 years. We lived on the economy (downtown). It has changed a lot since we lived there. The houses were not all colorful in the 90s. Great memories! The food and drinks were delicious! We need to go back to visit! Thanks for sharing.

23 years ago I would go to the Vis A Vis for coffee, at the turn was a post office and across the street was a church. I worked at the metrolpol club on the weekends. I was known as Fritz, because my uniform shirt had the name Fritz. there used to be phone booths on the sidewalks, I did eventually get a handy, but they were expensive, I miss pre war, pre covid, pre EU Baumholder

I was there in the winter of 1959-60 for Combat Engineer Training. Dam, it was cold in shelter halves. We were never allowed to go to town. In 1960 the training area didn't look much different than when Rommel trained his troops there. The French, Germans, and Americans used the area and we were allowed to use each other's PX and Commissary stores. I can remember that the French knew how to treat their troops.

Thank you so much for this trip back down memory lane. I was stationed in Baumholder from 1985 to 1989. I was in C Co 708 th Maintenance Co. My boyfriend at the time was a MP. I lived in Wetzel housing area, up the hill pass the Esso Gas station. As I recalled, the MP station was at the bottom of the (going back on post) to your left just past that fork in the road. Anyways, thank you so much for the trip back to the BEST duty station every. I would do it all over again. #TheRock

Not really a great Country. Germany was beautiful but Germann will be more and more bad because of the left Government. No good payed Jobs. More and more illegal Migrants. No illegal or Criminal Migrants send back home... In German Schools are Arabs without Respect.
