If it went to court, Page would win. Hands down. If Taurus isn’t Stairway, there’s no way Led Zeppelin’s “Babe….” Is Anne Bredon’s.
@stephendoriankutos44295 күн бұрын
Oh sweetie, Anne did take it to court in the early 1990's, and now she's credited and received a huge sum in back royalties that were owed to her and continued to earn royalties until her death 2019. So much for your theory.

@@stephendoriankutos4429 Ahh I’m sorry. It was the lyrics that were the same, not the melody. I hate when I’m wrong, but I’m not afraid to admit it. Happens more, as I get older. My apologies. Even with hearing aids, I had a problem understanding Ms. Bredon’s singing. The chord progression was completely different. Not an excuse, just the reason. I won’t delete the post. I deserve the derision. Zeppelin were terrible for plagiarism. Especially on that first album. This is just another case.

So cool. I like them both, but for me, the second, Janet Smith version was slower and more haunting. Especially her voice. Either way, both are beautiful in song, image, and people.

Second time through. Wowww. The imagery as well really carries weight to that sudden drop at the end, both to the song and Joe. Dannngggg. Am I hearing it right, that is Joe? Or did he really escape the noose? I do believe he deserved the noose, but I am very curious to know which is the case?

Considering I was born in 1965 too young to be a hippie. The only recording I've ever heard was from Jimi Hendrix. And I've always loved it. Hearing this for the first time ever at the age of 58. I can say I like this original recording just as well. Thank you for posting this on KZbin.

This is fantastic! Answers (maybe) me something I was curious about for a while. Taj Mahal does a song that's on an old album I lost long ago, "Johnny You're Too Bad". It's in a Reggae feel, and he makes it sound Jamaican. On the record, at least, and other versions by him and many other people are all different styles. The story is very much the same as "Hey Joe", just including that he's a local bad guy (we don't know about Joe) and has always been making trouble. The gun and the woman are the last straw, the sheriff is after him now. He "runs to the rock of rescue, but there will be no rock." I take that as meaning nobody down here or up there is going to give him a break. Joe runs, but no mention of rocks. However, somehow I link this as Joe being caught and accused of shooting a deputy, amongst everything else. But Joe, or Johnny, or both maintain they never shot no deputy, but did happen to take down the sheriff. Well, of course, this is all in my head, along with a lot of other strange conjecture, but I liked the similarities and the feeling they were the same story told from different cultures. And we all know how music and lyrics chase themselves around in circles over the centuries! I guess Mr. Clapton and /or Bob Marley really don't have a solid connection, but it does sort of end the story. After all, we never really know what's become of Joe & Johnny... Sorry, next...

Well, that was something, I find the lack of music aside from the opening to be a bit unnerving, like nothing's telling me how I should think about what I'm seeing. It is a bit amazing how far Danny Antonucci went from here.

3;16= It would be interesting to know if that (low lyric was intentional & what it said)
@stephendoriankutos4429Ай бұрын
It's one of the most interesting aspects of the song. I seems to me that its intentional, but I've never been able to decipher exactly what he's saying. It sort of sounds like he's say "Got a loaded gun, gun", but I don't know. Whatever he says it's really effective and dramatic. It's a shame it's one of the elements the didn't carry over to any of the cover versions.
