I said this before, B.B. King said " it all starts at the note " & Mick Taylor took it from there!

Mick Taylor looks strung out, but he sure did nail the solo.

Capital Theater, Passaic, New Jersey, Summer 1982, me + LSD just behind the first loge section... Mick Taylor literally ate every other guitarist for brunch, hidden back by the drummer, sitting down! Etta James was incendiary, but it wasn't until 1985 at the Catalyst when I asked John Mayall who she was that it made sense. Etta Freakin' James of Johnny Otis' push out 1950s 17 year old kid, Etta J. It is great when the greats are just like us again, but were never like most of us in the first place, you know?

Per comments so far (10/29/2024) I am the only one who was at this show. Damn... John McVee was so drunk he was an embarrassment and bowed out... stumbled, mid song first or two out. I was so bummed, but the rest of the show was jaw to floor and more.

Look, the Stones were best with Mick Taylor. There is no debate about this from true fans. After he left in was NEVER the same, particularly in live concerts. The vidoes prove it 100%. It's a shame things worked out the way they did. Taylor's solo's turbocharged their tunes.
One of the most satisfying concerts I ever saw was Albert King and Ten Years After at the :LA Memorial Center, maybe 1968. People passed around joints and my MG Midget outraced a cop car on Laurel Canyon Bl. Back in the day.

This is ROCK and ROLL. Just stand there and play your guitar. No flash no no flare. Just stand there and light that Les Paul on fire. God I wish had a pinkys worth of that or any talent.

I hate most harmonica players. I have time playing harmonica on stage. I’d turn my mic off during vocals and call and answer blues. When the lead guitar player looked at me, I’d do 12 bars and look at him. If he nodded, I did another 12 bars and got out. Otherwise, a harmonica sounds like someone stepped on cats tail. This harmonica player ruined the whole song.

I saw Mick and the Bluesbreakers in 1968, the same year I saw Cream! I felt that Mick filled Clapton's shoes admirably!

Mick Taylor has complete control of both kinds of vibrato. He mastered the parrallel and the horizontal vibrato. The parrallel is extremely difficult, due to the exact place needed to wobble the string up and down, without going sharp or flat. This takes years of playing, only heard Jeremy Barrs? even get close. He is on u tube playing note for note, even with parrallel vibrato. A young, talented guitarist that may have a date with destiny. The horizontal is like violin players use,and some, like Jeremy use both effectively.

Mick Taylor gave the Stones a real lead guitar sound. Sans MT, Stones always sound like everyone is playing rhythm guitar.
