This song suddenly came into my head this evening and I decided to look it up. Was absolutely amazed to find it on KZbin! I learnt it when I was a Girl Guide way back in the 1950s but knew nothing of its history. What a serendipitous evening!

We sang variation of this song in scouts in former Yugoslavia during communist/socialist era.Some lyrics were different, probably to better suit our Slavic language. We didn't have different scout organizations for girls and boys(and still don't),so we sang same songs.
