Trouble is looks like the mouth is already starting to silt up even after 3 years of floods because the idiot government pricks that run the show didn't release enough water at a time! Because there to busy selling it to rice growers and overseas companies 🤬 tide doesn't normally start pushing in for hours after tide starts moving in on the beach at least a couple hours cheers 🍻

Most of the Estuary is 2.5 to 3.5 metres but there's some deeper spots over 8 metres closer to the mouth, lots of structure and sandbars, soft coral lumps, fisherman's paradise when the mouth is deep and not silted up👌

Generally how far is it that you should fish away from the barrage at the towatchery

@IanJohnston-wo2qp I fish in the channel in front of Tauwitcherie, it's about 150 metres from the lock

Oh yep is it any good right up close or better back further

@IanJohnston-wo2qp it's illegal to fish within 50 metres of the barrage and there's a big sandbar which makes it near impossible to get to barrage anyway

Thanks mate, much appreciated, yeah give the fish traps a go mate, they love them, best when the tide isn't pushing to hard 👍🏻 the set-up I was using with the vibe was just a cheap rod I got off a mate Jarvis walker Fishhunter 2 to 6 kg 6'6" spin and the reel was just a cheap Diawa reel I got in my member pack from Mark Bergs fishing Addiction the Diawa CF 2500 SR hasn't even got a name on the reel and I use Hercules PE 20 lb braided line I started buying online seems to be good line so far good abrasion resistance 👍🏻

Sorry mate unfortunately I live in South Australia and I fish the Coorong Estuary and Beach if you're ever in SA you should try about 20 to 30 km north of T tree crossing on the Coorong 90 mile Beach, Awesome spot to catch plenty of Gummy's, any other questions just let me know, thanks again mate cheers 🎣🍻🤙

Thanks mate, much appreciated, it normally takes a couple hours or so for the tide to push up the Coorong because the flow out is much stronger because of the fresh water pushing out. The Fishing isn't as good on a dodge in the Estuary but you can still catch fish if you put in the hours, Fishing is the best when the waters pushing out cheers 🎣🍻🤙

Hey mate, I use 15 to 24 kg Diawa Beef stick with Diawa Saltist 8000 and Diawa BG 8000 reels, I have 80lb braid on my Saltist but I'm down grading to 50 lb, think 80 lb is a bit over kill and I have 30lb mono on my BG, if you want to check out all the gear I use, check out Episode 72 if you like cheers 🍻

I don't agree with that, if you check out my videos fishing on the beach and in my boat you cam see I shine my headlights in the water all the time otherwise my videos would be useless for viewers, you wouldn't see anything so if they get scared of the lights is must be only temporary

I find if you use lighter line on the hook trace than the sinker trace it tangles much less and stronger and more abrasion resistant for big Mulloways gill rakers and teeth and more chance of landing sharks
