Hey there great video, do you know how to replace the starter motor in a ttr-225? I have one but dont know where to start because theres nothing out there showing how to do it. Also, where do you find plastics for a ttr-225 nowadays? Anything helps, Thanks!

it’s interesting to watch a good quick mechanic work. I made my living as a motorcycle mechanic years ago at three different dealerships. But it just takes me longer when I work on my own stuff. I always make sure everything is clean, and lubed, when I put it back together, there was a bulletin from Honda to all service departments. Buy a can of rust oleum, silver aluminum paint that you brush on not spray paint. don’t stir the cans don’t shake the can, open the can and scrape the thick paste from the bottom and coat your dry paper gaskets with that thick goo, and install them wet after both surfaces are clean. That gasket will never stick, it won’t leak, and you should never have to buy another gasket, this is especially good for installing base gaskets, valve, cover, gaskets, and even some head gaskets that are subjected to heat. I have been doing that since I got that bulletin in 1974. I still have the court can of rust oleum aluminum silver paint that I bought in 1974 and I have been using it on dried paper gaskets ever since.. One other tip, when it comes to those rod actuated rear brakes. Put a slight bend of around 30° in the center of the rod. That will give you more feel for the rear brake, and make it less prone to locking easily. I enjoyed watching you work. I just bought one of these machines here in September 2024 for myself because my three kids and my grandkids that are 56 and age or just beginning to ride dirt bikes again. So I had to get something for myself again. I wanted something mild with electric start instead of what I’m used to, 250 motocross bikes These bikes and it looks like your bike is one of them, you need to drill out the plug, blocking access to the fuel, screw, and turn the fuel screw out about one and a half to two turns out. So it will start easier and it won’t bog at low throttle openings.

Thanks for the compliment and feedback! The paint thing is interesting. I had a guy tell me same thing on head-gaskets on street bikes, and I always wanted to try it.

Hi there thanks for the comment. It would take a long time to start accelerating after the clutch was let out and then finally it completely went where I couldn’t even get it started without manually putting it in neutral.
