This was a special instance. WEP is known to be outdated and insecure, easily cracked. If the neighbor was using an up-to-date network with AES, then this would probably not have happened. They wouldn’t need to reconfigure or rewrite any code at all, they could very easily have just tried using a Windows machine. Fair enough they’re trying to educate but come on…I don’t want to hear the words “I assume” because you haven’t bothered or seen a reason to check.
