Ieas vou bought up in South Australia and agree with most of your pronouciations .Advettieizement is definately a Sydney or East Coast effort But, after 40+years in the aluminium industry , I cringe at some common efforts..As the word is spelled please

Clear and well presented. However, you started by saying, the first word is ""Ze-bra" is what you will say in your... no actually you might say "Zee-bra" because that's the American way of saying it in your head, I will then come in and say the correct Australian way of saying it is "Ze-bra" and the way you may have heard it said before is "Zee-bra". A "Zee-bra" is one of those black and white, I guess, horses that live in Africa. They're not exactly horses they're "Zee-bras". So have we understood the game? If the correct Australian way is "Zebra" why did you ALWAYS use the word "Zee-bra throughout? The you say, the first word if Advertisement" - I thought you said the first word was "Ze-bra". Good attempt but if you would use a written script to avoid such slip ups it would help you improve your lesson.

Im Australian but have never heard the way you pronounce ‘advertisement’. Maybe there are regional differences??
@bryanhomann78373 күн бұрын
I agree, and there is bound to be regional differences. South Australia (where I live) is possibly more English . Given that our local paper is called the Advertiser, maybe that is why most of the word is rolled into one

The regular insect spray is not a great option. Try Mortein power guard which comes in 2L bottles and has a hose and a spray hand pump. They are jelly shaped and can last for about 6 months outdoor, if not being washed up by rain. By the way, great work with the airplane.

I am American and just want to clarify some things. In American English, aluminium is spelled with only one i 'aluminum' thus the different pronunciation. In American English, the word 'vase' rhymes with face (although, on occasion, you will hear someone jokingly say 'vahz'. In American English, advertisement is pronounced exactly the same as in Australia - it's the Brits that say 'adVERtisement. If I hear an American person mispronounce the word 'niche', it makes my skin crawl as well. Most people say it correctly here. My biggest pet peeve of mispronounced French words used in American English is naïvté - they make it sound more like 'nativity'.
@LearnEnglishwithanAussieAccentАй бұрын
Thanks for your insights, I hadnt actually worked out it was spelled differently with no I and hence the reason for the different pronunciation!
@rickkinsman7400Ай бұрын
Well done shit-for-brains. You got it wrong right from the get-go. Here in Straya, the stress in the word 'advertisement' is ALWAYS of the 'VERT' not the TISE. You don't know what you're talking about. I didn't even bother watching the rest of your video after that clanger.

@RogerJones-o2iАй бұрын
I did not match your pronunciation on "advertisement" and differ slightly on "aluminium". "Advertisement" is unquestionably a short "i" in Australian speech. The long "i" is typically American. As for "aluminium", yes I've heard it the way you've said but I still hear "alyoominium" more often, the same vowel as in your "mature" example. My qualifications: Australian born and bred, been here for most of my 70+ years and in recent years a TESOL teacher. Then again, though, why would anyone take proNUNciation advice from someone who says proNOUNciation?

Good Vid Mate, but Red backs are not the most venomous spiders in Oz. The Sydney funnel Web spider is Australia’s most deadly. The Sydney funnel-web spider, Atrax robustus, is one of the most dangerous spiders to humans in the world

Get yourself some Termidore and put it in a trigger spray bottle and spray it around the hangar edges and up the door edges..works a treat. No spiders for 6 months or more. I use it in my hangar. Why are you fitting a 100hp 912 IS. in a 4 seat aircraft..seems to be very underpowered. Interestingly I see you have a second alternator fitted as well.

We had to deal with a lot of black widows in the southwestern US when I lived there... if it was dry and shaded they'd be in there. The worst is when they get in the house. Twice in my life I've woken up to black widows crawling on me under the blankets, I was lucky and didn't get bit either time. Thankfully black widows aren't as common where I live now, haven't seen one in at least a year or two.
@LearnEnglishwithanAussieAccentАй бұрын
Yuck! That sounds terrible. Over here you do the Aussie dance before you put gloves, boots or anything on, stamp on them a bunch of times to make sure if there WAS one in there, its dead
@dw7444Ай бұрын
Good to know we’re not the only ones doing that silly dance. ;-) Take care and stay safe!

The reason for stressing the i in privacy is that there is only a single consonant before the a, another vowel. In this case the first vowel is usually pronounced long, as in nation. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule.
