@@loopghost glad to hear it. Let me ask you a question because there's not too many people knowledgeable enough on form to answer it. I'm only throwing about 350. My lead foot's shoe on the bottom of the sole, under the heel, keeps having the tread go flat and then poke a hole right in the center of the bottom of my heel. I'm going through shoes every 3 months. Any idea what kind of form mistake would cause such wear?

GG is like a trebuchet creating a counterweight stall with his shoulders and a sling stall with his arm. the most effective trebuchets time the sling stall and counterweight stall together to throw further. unlike other pros like AB and pre injury Lizotte who rubber band and whips it, or like Paige Pierce, Heimburg, and maybe new Simon who focuses more on creating a strong centrifugal force the disc gets trapped in (classic wide to close to spin faster figure skater meme but actually literally and coiled up to the shoulder), increasing it by throwing their weight around instead of down like GG or forward like seppu paju. but its all a spectrum and you can mix the styles up like putting

Hi Loop, do you still recommend this far of an elbow extension? I'm having a tough time getting through this spot in my game. I should be absolutely crushing my shots with my leverage (7ft tall) but I can't seem to break 350-375' (Beat wraith or tern on flat release) consistently without throwing a distance anny or flex. Like 315-340 with a teebird or river. When my arm is too loose pocket collapse and I only get 300~ maybe. I can't seem to get my mids over 300 consistently. Trying to throw with more velocity results in turn and burn. My best shot ever was a 410' laser beam 8' off the ground and I have no idea how I did it because I barely threw the disc but it just flew like crazy. I feel that I can generate the power and have good leg mechanics as I have played hockey left handed my whole life and throw right as all of the above shot distances are not trying to throw hard. I can turn and burn neutral 9-10 speeds into the ground when I try to throw with more velocity. I feel that the spin is lacking here (Not OAT as the discs don't flutter out of the hand). I feel I'm just missing a key step and not using my arm properly. Looking at videos of myself I am not getting the elbow forward and getting into that deep pocket position. My arm starts the extension mid chest at best. I think this deep pocket is where I need to get to so that I can put enough spin on the discs to get them to glide further and stay straighter. Compressing that acceleration into a smaller space towards the hit should allow for more spin with the speed. Any advice to try and get this elbow far forward? Go slow and feel it out? Do you think trying to "lock" your upper arm almost into a more open position >90 Upper arm to torso and just leave the lower half of the arm loose? maybe trying to push that elbow out further would be the ticket?

Unfortunately, everyone is going to have the “feels” different, but for me… the “feels” is having my head/eyes looking perpendicular to my line when I’m guiding the disc through center chest, WHILE maintaining my hand in the outside of the disc. It feels to me like a very sideways movement (lateral slide), and I have to avoid the desire to start speeding the hand up as I pull the disc forward.

Trying so hard to understand this. Focusing on the power pocket just makes me strong arm it and the top of my right bicep feels very strained. When I dont focus on it, I play pain free, even though I start the acceleration way early

Hey there so going back to your older videos, how do you feel about these or the right pec drills. Are you still thinking these are all valid with what you know now?
@loopghost
@loopghost Жыл бұрын
I think that the right pec drill is probably fine, but only if you're really struggling with opening the shoulders too early. I teach more about making a lateral move that de-weights the back foot. I find that throwing from any static position makes people compensate by doing bad things. Lots of stuff in this video is still valid though, especially throwing nose down and verifying that you're not blowing off the disc early.

It is the angle playing tricks. You do want the stagger as you describe - though with a ball-golf "move" you do keep your feet less staggered than in a disc-golf move.

You might get a boost from trt if you're low, but there's studies comparing people that lift and take steroids at reasonable levels versus people taking steroids and just sitting on the couch. The people taking steroids and doing nothing else but sitting on the couch, still gained 40 percent of the muscle of people lifting and using steroids. There's guys that get jacked on steroids, drop the dose until they aren't taking them anymore, and still maintain the size. What I think, doing the x-step as a beginner is doing more harm than good. I have started to believe that the purpose of the x-step is only getting the body into a "spring" and then the weight sift and right foot plant is only there for "triggering the spring" to unleash like a bat out of hell. However what I have noted, is that when doing the x-step walk, it seem to be harder to get my body into a loaded spring position than if I just do as you did on the video; rock momentum back and for in stand still and then just a short step forward with my right foot and boom! So, I think, that one must master this stand still momentum back and forth -shift BEFORE implementing the x-step. Anyone else having the same thoughts or am I just totally in the woods? Thanks again for the great content!
