Yep, great machine. But for future reference: Dry powdery snow, like the stuff in this video, use the SnowCannon. Wet slushy snow, use the Plow blade.

@@jtslandscaping7669 I have both for my Gravely 546. The plow gets used mostly, in my area of NW Indiana. Gravely's are beasts and that plow blade is HEAVY. Has to be two to three times thicker than any plowblade on a typical riding mower.

The attachment on the front of your Sulky is for times you are pulling a dump cart, or when there is no attachment on the front of the Gravely. Otherwise, you want to remove that attachment, and put the 'clamshell' piece on the front of the Sulky (you may not have this part) But in your case, you'll also have to get another ball, as you altered it and it won't work now with the other ball, the clamshell. SO, with the Clamshell part attached, the Sulky and Tractor can FLEX a lot up or down at the ball. That setup is best for mowing as it allows the mowing deck to ride up and down over your low and high spots and you can also using your feet on the foot holds and hands on the handle bars and pressing down, easily lift the front of the deck off the ground in order to get out of a difficult spot or over some object. Also, there was no need to shave down the ball. The attachment on the front of the Sulky was upside down. It's designed to have a small hole on one side, and a larger hole at the bottom. Most of these Gravely hitches it's best to leave the ball on the hitch sulky when removed from the tractor and NOT ON the tractor.

My grandfather had a nursery in Redding CT in the 1960s and 1970s. A retirement venture for him. My first Gravely (still have it) was his 1963 Li. He would mow between the rows of hemlock trees all summer and do the garden plowing. Thats hard work. I have a few 30 inch mowers, however, all have the single 3/8 inch thick blade.

Interesting. My M106 brush hogs use gear oil in the gear box. My starter clutch gets a couple of squirts of WD-40 from time to time, not grease, with a starter strap pin in place of your zerk. The governor also gets a regular oil level check. PaulL
