This was peak late-ish CART...great cars, drivers, teams, crowds, and Bob Varsha and Sully , along with Jon Beekius in the pits, were a great, pure class announcing team (especially compared to the 2024 IndyCar season and the mid-season intro of the worthless unreliable hybrids which have ruined the balance of the cars and are damaging the integrity of the series, and the obnoxious, screeching clown show of the entire NBC team)

Man... I'm here in September 2024 after Mark Miles' comments about the lack of viability of a race in Mexico City and I really can't believe how out of touch he is. Say what you want about NASCAR's Ben Kennedy but in terms of risk taking with the schedule he is kicking Miles' butt right now.

Thanks for posting this race. I was there as a fan, but with pro camera equipment photographing it. After the race, because of that, I somehow ended up walking behind the car to the garage for their celebration. The guys pushing the car (including 2 guys literally pushing the rear tires) probably thought I was press, so I just stuck close to them and got in. Hard to believe it was almost 30 years ago.

Gosh, between the styling and the paint schemes, the cars looked so good back then. The cars today look silly.

I personally never cared for these street courses. I like closed road circuits, such as Mid Ohio, much better.

Tim Cindric has not aged a day in 23 years! And what a job he's done at Penske...how many last as long as he has in the sport at all, let alone at the top of it?

Late 80’s to early 90’s was peak IndyCar. It was a time of generational transition.

:40 Really, Paul? A memorial service 'could not replace' Gonzalo? Paul, probably the best American open wheel racing announcer of all time, was really slipping into the hack period of his career by this point. Parker was probably rubbing off on him.

Parker J was awful and the legend Paul Page sounds tired bored and over it. Previous few seasons w Vasha and Danny Sullivan were awesome. Guess they wanted to save some dough....Parker probably paid them to do the gig.

It is very weird and sad that several victories of Adrian Fernandez were followed by a race with a fatality. RIP Greg Moore.

If Rick had waited till 94, he coulda run one of Roger's BEAST powered Penske's and for sure probably coulda nabbed number 5

Painful to listen to Paul Tracy complain again and for the final time about the '97 Penske car, knowing what it was going to cost him. Roger had had enough of it, that's the one thing you just don't do publicly, diss anything related to Penske. He fired him, releasing him after the season from his 5 year, $3.5 million per year contract after only 2 years...3 years early. A $10.5 million lesson for Paul. Ouch.

a lot of "new venues" in Miami for a lot of racing series since Tamiami Park 1985. A lot of racing series raced in a lot of Miami areas, like damn. EDIT: I am 30 minutes into this race and I feel like imma forget about this Miami track as soon as I finish this race
