@juliemanarin4127 Better look out your back door. Salmon and Monster Brown trout around in the lake. Check with a tackle shop and get directed to where they are ice fishing for 20+ pound brown trout. You are sitting on a fishing gold mine nearly a thousand miles from the pacific ocean. Do a little research and have a ball.

Pitbull tackle nets have consistently been getting substantially less than promar ones from what I’ve seen and in my own experience
@Archgr820 күн бұрын
14 lbs promar nets with a 10lbs weight added are my best ones, blue one in the video. The entry and slope really helps the crabs get into the nets. My 23 lbs promar ones are not as productive and are similar to the pitbull ones, the pitbull ones appear to be even steeper though.
@DDFishingCo20 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing @AnyFishKiller . It sounds like many guys have been having similar experiences. We tried to make it make it a fair competition and didn’t want to write anything off too soon. We definitely will get back out there and do some more comparing!

That’s awesome info thanks for sharing. We had 1 14lb and the others were the even lighter ones. We will have do some more comparing out on the water soon.

@DDFishingCo20 күн бұрын
What’s up man! We used a variety of weights. We used the 23lb outdoor nets, the 14lb promar and the lighters promar ones as well. We weighted a lot of the nets down to make sure they were on bottom. We want to get an underwater camera to experiment with weights to see how the nets do.

Very informative, thanks again for another great video. Out of curiosity, what's your thought process on spinning gear for jigging?
@DDFishingCo23 күн бұрын
Thank you!! Personally I don’t mind it at all, I think a spinning rod is always fun. Especially on the inshore if you can get away with a lighter rod/setup. It might not be as efficient as a conventional setup since you are constantly dropping your bait up and down. Conventional is better more efficient setup overall, however it’s personal preference.
@reelin_it_with_jake27 күн бұрын
That is a huge Verm! No electric reels? That would be more efficient, but would take away some of the fun!
@DDFishingCo23 күн бұрын
Giant Verm!! You are totally right, an electric reel would be way more efficient. We do have electric reel setups and have used them in the past. It makes things much easier haha. We wanted to have some fun with the fish and left the electric stuff at home on this trip 🤙

Those plastic tentacles on the squidtrex will melt like hell and stick to each other if stored in too hot an environment! That’s for Sure 😂 had a couple already do that but they work great
@DDFishingCoАй бұрын
You are right about that! They definitely do melt if not stored properly. Happened to us once! They actually aren't supposed to be stored in any plastic container other than nomads special box they have for the squidtrex and vertrex. The special nomad boxes do not fit the larger model squidtrex. The plastic will react to other types of plastic. Its best to keep them away from other types of plastic. Thanks for watching!

When was the last time you tried Bocaccio? I think it tastes really good. Fillet it, add olive oil and panko cook it in a cast iron on high heat, and don't over cook it. It's really good.

We will have to try that! The last time we kept them it was last year. They were fairly smelly fish, something seemed off forsure. Maybe we had a few off ones. We will have to try again. Thanks for the tip! 👍

What’s wrong with reaction tackle 🤣 I love that braid has never failed me
@DDFishingCoАй бұрын
Haha theres nothing wrong with as far as breaking strength goes. Its a great price point and we have used it in close quarters situations. Last year we were on the deep reef and one guys in the boat had reaction tackle and everyone else had different braid. He was having a tough time with bottom contact feel compared to the other guys. His line had a ton of scope compared to us. When you are in 300ft and you switch from 80lb braid to 65lb or 50lb braid there is a significant difference in what you feel on bottom.
@Choks18Ай бұрын
@ I definitely know what you mean. I just can’t justify paying more for braid when it does what I need it for.

Hi guys just happened to come across your channel, great work! To my surprise so happy to see that you have a 24 wellcraft airslot. I have one that I am doing a total restoration and layout change to a dual console outboard. Only found one other video on KZbin showing airslot. I had a 16-foot airslot 40 years ago and was amazed by the ride Hence the reason for me finding one and wanting to restore it. hoping this 24 does not disappoint. Any knowledge you guys can share about the boat would be greatly appreciated. A couple questions I'm wondering where to locate my below deck fuel tank. It's a 70 gallon and currently I'm considering locating the front of the tank about even with the center line of the boat and is 60 inches long towards the transom. This is about 3 ft more forward from the original fuel tank location. Any thoughts on the weight distribution and the ride characteristics? I never had the boat on the water. Im worried about bow steering and planning characteristics. Keeping in mind that I removed the cuddy cabin and adding light weight dual consoles which is removing a considerable amount of weight from the forward potion of the boat. I'll probably spend this morning watching a few more of your videos much to my wife's displeasure LOL. Thanks guys.
@DDFishingCoАй бұрын
Hey Samuel! Thats awesome you have an airslot, it sounds like a sweet project you have going on. I can tell you a couple of things that we noticed. Before when we had the i/o the boat sat a little lower in the water and it rode a little better in rough water. I think the i/o was really heavy and it was centered at a low point in the hull and it kept the boat balance. The outboard bracket has some flotation to it so overall we ended up lighter in the rear of the boat. Also, we have an aluminum cabin on our boat which added weight to the front of the boat. Its hard to tell if the cabin is causing the boat to lean forward a little since the rear is lighter now or just overall the boat sat lower with the heavier i/o. The boat still ride great, its very fast. We love the boat. So in your situation, Since you took out all the weight in the front, you might be in a good spot. Worst comes to worst could you add weight to the front of the boat? Thanks for watching!!

Did you keep or release the yelloweye? In many places they must be released. You should mention that so people don't accidentally break the law.
@DDFishingCoАй бұрын
Great question! We did not keep any yellow eye as its illegal. Towards the end of the video there is a brief scene with a descending device with a yellow eye. We say we descended all of the small yellowtail rockfish and the bocaccio. In future videos we can clarify that we released those.

Gotta ask, why are you using the cheap Okuma SLX reels? On that 50 I can see you clearly have that drag at sunset (33lbs) max. I did use the PCH rods, XH,XXH and XXXH for a couple years. Great price point on the rods no doubt. But after hooking bigger fish there is no comparison to quality (UC, Calstar, Seeker) rail rods.
@DDFishingCoАй бұрын
Great question! We have caught 20+ bluefin on these reels with a few over 200lbs. We have had zero issues with these reels so far. If we were targeting fish 250+ lb fish each time, we would upgrade to a reel with higher quality drag system. I would say most of the fish we catch up here are 100-200lbs. With the size line we are using, I don't want to push the drag anymore than it already is.
