But lets be real here, before the 90´s there simply werent many foriegners in sweden at all. Thats why., Its easy to understand. I grew up in a town where we had no immigrants until i was 17 years old. The swedish language is a pitch accent language like japanese. Everyone knows how important it is to pronounce words correctly in japanese. But swedeish has the same feature, so we are really bad at understanding different accents in our language. We are in fact shamed for it by the danes and norwegians as the ones who understand the others the worst. Norwegians have an advantage through (bokmal) People need to know more about the pitch accent so that swedes dont have to feel bad for not understanding, and so that foreigners know and understand why that is.Its not about racism, its in our language. The Japanese language has this respect. We do not. - a swede who has lived abroad since i was 22 in 2 different countries, studied language transition and old germanic. Fun fact: we didnt have a word for black in the viking age. Harald Bluetooth had a black tooth. Africa was called Blueland.
