This is really random, but I have a single axle, 2005 Elddis Odyssey 540 caravan with a BPW chassis and a Winterhoff WS3000 stabiliser. Inside is water damaged from a leaking skylight, but the chassis is still perfectly fine. Do you have any idea how much I'd be able to get for it? I'm in New Zealand and I have no clue how to price it. Even a ballpark idea would be so helpful, thanks for reading!

Most will fix the floor and continue using it. Or turn it into a toy hauler, I would start at around $2-$3k and see how you go.. 😊

That thing looks awesome, probably a bit late now but when you install the windows and doors just use a neutral cure silicone (any colour) and before the silicone cures give it a spray with soapy water and use a rubber scraper to remove the excess silicone. It will leave a very neat and waterproof finish. You can do the same thing with the j moulds around the sides of the van. Works a treat every time.
@EngineeredToDesign

Thank you, I was told silicone will rust the steel is that correct?

a little tip when using structual eurathane when dry fitting the trim put 50mm tape against the edge of it so when you put the eurathane on then put the trim on the excess that oozes out goes on the tape then peel the tape off while still wet it should leave a crisp edge

Thanks man! Up to now we are in around $5500-6k which isn’t bad I still have to do the interior.. would love to go independent suspension but I’m not sure it’s in the budget as of yet. Dust suppression would be great to have fitted I just have to look into how much is involved in a system.

Personally, I would have V notched and bent the tine to the shape, so the parallels of the channel were the same length and there's no weld along the front. But your way is certainly fit for purpose, I can't wait to see this thing boogie!

If you have a horizontal shaft engine, then how are you mounting this? Especially if you have a torque converter. Are you offsetting the engine? Or mounting an intermediate shaft for power transfer?
@EngineeredToDesign
@EngineeredToDesign 14 күн бұрын
I was planning on having a jack shaft to run the chain forwards to this differential and mount it with pillow blocks.
@MrJakedaddy
@MrJakedaddy 14 күн бұрын
@@EngineeredToDesign I’m dealing with something similar on my buggy right now, and my issue is how an intermediate axle/jackshaft is going to affect the spacing. Seems like raising, or lengthening the areas that comprises the engine, intermediate axle, and rear diff is unavoidable. I’m trying to avoid adding chain tensioners. I’d much rather be able to slide the engine or the axle mounts to tighten the chain. I’m interested to see what ideas you come up with.
@EngineeredToDesign
@EngineeredToDesign 14 күн бұрын
@@MrJakedaddy that sounds tricky, feel free to email me some pictures if I can help at all I’ll try or send me a dm on Instagram.. unfortunately the differential I built in this video is way to big for my lawn mower but I will use it in another build 👌🏻

We're doing an electric conversion of a Beetle and thinking about sending the high voltage cables from frant to back through the heater channels, as we don't need them for heat. I was trying to see in the video, but I'm still uncertain: are there any obstructions inside the heater "pipe"? Like pieces of metal welded in for better airflow that could damage the cables? We will of course use conduit around the cable. Would it be easy to run the wires through?
@EngineeredToDesign
@EngineeredToDesign 24 күн бұрын
That sounds pretty cool! The bolts from underneath poke through and it depends on the year some have air pipe ducts made from metal to help guide the air.. hope this helps. Otherwise look into the gear shifter tunnel with some modifications it may work

This is fantastic! Only thing is, I'd be concered that aircooled gs500 engine is going to overheat being all covered like that. Maybe think about putting an oil cooler on it, like the gs500f (fairing) had. Otherwise, keep up the good work! Your style of editing makes your videos much easier to watch than mine.

@EngineeredToDesign I did consider a fan, I'm unsure if the alternator-less gs500 electrical system could power a fan large enough to have the desired effect, but worth a try. Maybe use a thermostat so it only comes on when needed. Yeah mine is an offroad vehicle of sorts, general push-pull-carryer utility thing, to move a project car around or function as a mobile dance floor as required. Glad you like it :)
