Amazing , how men came back from the extreme living hell of WW1, and not totally wrecked mentally and emotionally!! The horrendous hell we can not fathom.

So glad that I found this superb video of the background explanations, rehearsals and full performance of this fantastic Faure piece. I only previously saw an excerpt from it on the amazing soprano's youtube channel. Thanks for providing us with such insightful background looks of how this wonderful music is made.

Such delicious playing and pacing of this work! I've rarely heard its orchestration sound so delicate and complimentary to the voice. I'm reminded by this for something that might seem incongruous - Rameau's operas. Rameau's textures in smaller settings can be just as ravishing and painterly. Bravo to all, but also to Orlando Cela for helping us listen to it in such a refreshing way.

What an incredible performance of this great piece from the master of polish avant-garde music Krzysztof Penderecki (of the musical movement initiated by Karol Szymanowski in the sixties). A genius of contemporary music from the middle of the 20th century who I miss very much. Kubrick brilliantly used his music in The Shining, Penderecki having also written some film music himself at the time. By the way, congratulations to the musicians for this incredible complex performance, they look very young, it's great to see that young people take over so that this music does not disappear and lasts over time !

Thank you! As a string instrumentalist, I wondered how flutists could possibly do a glissando! It is so simple for us (strings) as it's dragging the finger. Interesting. Thanks. 🙂
