Probably the best way to handle seminary education with its terrible costs is to take it slow. A lot of schools are doing online training now, so in many instances a seminarian can work a full time job and study at the same time. If an aspiring pastor has the sexual self-discipline he can delay marriage for a time too. A lot depends in denomination. I'm a Confessional Lutheran they won't let you near a pulpit without a full M.Div, but other denoms might give you an associate pastor slot with an M.T.S. or MA in religion, which are less time consuming than an M.Div.

My pastor changed my mentality towards this by bringing up that Paul was a tentmaker. The mission was #1 in pursuing God, but that doesn't mean it's bad to work to live. It's not selfish or against God's will to take your time to save and cash flow college and its not evil to have a job to support you and your family. As long as the mission of fulfilling God's calling for you is ahead of you and you're working towards that you can't go wrong

Dave is correct on his biblical view of debt. B lodgers should stay out of debt. He is wrong about it Gold . I quadrupled my value of Gold do not know of other investments that are going to do that unless you are lucky and happen to pick the right stock at the right time.

You do not have to go into debt to go this route you can live by faith. I went to Bible school and two Seminaries. I have a doctorate in theology and never once took a loan. Built a house for my family and never took a loan God peats provides.

A former pastor's 5 children have all went to a Christian University and graduated debt free. How did they do it? By working all the time. During the school year, during the summer and living thrifty the way their parents taught them. You go in to college debt free, driving beater vehicles not with a car payment.
