mental healthcare in the US is a joke. Had to commit my partner when she was clearly going crazy, threatening neighbors, hallucinating about dogs and babies controlling her. Her parents agreed, neighbors agreed, the property managers of the building she lived in agreed... and she sat in therapy refusing to acknowledge anything or seek treatment.. so they released her back on the street. A travesty, we were better before the 1980's when people would be housed in institutions that could care for them. If you watch the 'news' you will see lots of handwringing about how "the homeless" are ruining cities and towns. They are homeless because they are mentally ill people without access to treatment.

Bilingualism is a definite advantage. In the States almost 1/3rd of the population is now Hispanic but there is still no comprehensive curriculum to teach children Spanish. To be fair, many of the kids barely no English with 12 years of education so...

Mental health has always been a struggle but we'r---errr, I am much better now, thanks

Positivity is tricky to balance without tipping over into blind faith or relapsing into cynicism. Being positive and grounded is very difficult, but a worthy goal, the 'Stockdale paradox' I think it is.
