I think that's an understatement. These new mirrorless cameras are so insane. Look at the most recent sony a9, it takes 120 frames a second with it's global shutter tech, and all these mirrorless cameras have hundreds of autofocus points that are insanely fast and let's not even get started on those that automatically track targets for you. They pretty much now do all the work for you, you just sit back, point the camera, touch the screen to focus if necessary, and then click the shutter, boom 100 photos are now on your card to sift through later. Pretty impressive but as someone who has never held a real camera in their hands and doesn't know that much about composition and taking good pictures it just sounds like you'll not learn anything because the camera is doing everything for you except the pointing and clicking. I think the only thing I'd wish the older cameras had was better high iso performance, I was looking at a video on this recently and it seems like you don't even need to worry about iso on new cameras as even in the 100k range the photos come out looking good. Which seems unimaginable when my decade old compact super zoom from nikon looks like it's been purposefully made to look grainy in post at only iso 800. That thing only takes good pictures at iso 100. But I digress, I was originally going to go for a 5d mk3 but after watching a few videos on the early 1d models I think I'm going to go with the 1d mk3. Ones in excellent condition, looking almost brand new, go for 400 euros, expensive for what it is but it looks awesome. With a 24-105mm f4 L is lens it looks like one awesome and versatile kit for a beginner, hopefully good enough to never even need to sell.
