It not hard to see why Nigeria and Nigerians are the but of jokes by the international community. It should therefore be no surprise, with the high rate of illiteracy compared to other countries and high poverty compared to other countries that those who are involved in construction industry and building in Nigeria have unacceptable poor standards. In Nigeria a building that isn’t even ten years old will suddenly collapse whereas abroad there are hundreds of thousands of buildings that are over a hundred years old and are still standing. Our inability to independently build infrastructure and build a country is why we are a joke in the international community. We were blessed with all of the natural resources that any nation could ask for and yet we exist in squalor and chaos. SMDH.
