@CyberLocky it definitely was a mixed bag of the games being alnost profound a lot of times, to being downright distasteful. But tbh if Yuka was removed from the game / was a plot device to be killed off, it would be 10 times less packed with odd shit. I don't understand the choice of making her the fetish bingo. The rest of the spicy banter between the teens is nothing compared to her case.

Thanks so much wow 4 times XD yeah this game had a lot of fun what ifs. The Satoshi thing to me is so weird cause they build up him having knowledge and then we never actually have a chapter of him using said knowledge. The one chapter he has isn't even related to anything XD

We will forever question why Satoshi did nothing but cry and then didn't appear in the entire story apart from lewd scenes with Miss Yui making everything about him knowing the future pointless. We will also have to add it to a very long upcoming list of everything in the corpse party series that ends up being pointless.

The asylum is run down and decaying aside from the advanced technology used to contain the inmates, and the staff generally don't see the inmates as human. He knows all of this, and is the one person who could fix it all immediately with little effort or cost, but he chooses not to. Arkham Asylum is an old-style asylum in every way. It's not a medical facility, it's an oubliette - a place of forgetting. Batman captures villains, then puts them out of his mind. Well, the initial hype (Basically what drew a bunch of teenagers to the game) was the edge and gore. Because there was gore and it was edgy and only cool people can play this game and it's not for those who are weak. But what kept people interested and dedicated is not what the game has in terms of straight horror. As stated, the game itself plays a lot like a visual novel or a puzzle/escape room type of game. The story itself (At least the story of the initial game) is very interesting, engaging, and well-done. The characters are believable and feel real. Sure, there are weird decisions and odd moments ("Butter my pooper"), but those moments are easily overlooked. And the game itself is creepy. The horror doesn't come from a spooky monster coming to chase you down and kill you, it comes from the characters themselves. It's psychological horror first and foremost. And it does psychological horror extremely well. In fact, I would say the odd moments ("Butter my pooper") are specifically done in an overdramatic way to help break the building tension. Most of the weird moments happen in the beginning with Naomi and Seiko and they come up less and less often the further into the game you get. It's like a sense of calm and ridiculousness right before the storm. Yes, there's a lot of gore. But it's not trying to use the gore to scare you the player. It's using the gore as a way to beat down on the characters in the game, to unnerve the player through the reactions that the characters give. For example, if you feel off or skin-crawling during any scene where the characters are reacting to the horror around them, then the game did what it set out to do. It's not trying to jumpscare you and make you jump. It's not even trying to make you peek out your window or check under your bed. It's trying to unnerve you. So you just feel that bit of "off" when you close the game. So you feel unnerved when you go to bed. It's meant to linger for a bit until you manage to shake it off. If you've never experienced any of that, that's perfectly fine too. Different people react differently to horror. Which is why the genre of horror is so varied. For instance, I don't really get spooked by slasher movies. Whatever the director is trying to get me to feel from a slasher, I don't feel. I enjoy watching them, but not because they scare me. The most I'll give is maybe being jumped by a jumpscare, but I wouldn't count that as being scared. But psychological horror like Corpse Party does spook me. It unnerves me and lingers in this uncomfortable feeling in my spine and shoulders. Like I'm being watched by someone I can't see. So just because this type of horror doesn't work for you while another type of horror does just means this isn't your cup of tea. Either way, I hope this explains a bit about the hype behind it :)

It works better as a video analysis book of Shadows no bias of course XD But honestly that is my opinion cause gameplay wise there isn't much. But yeah series goes downhill after this xd
