It seems to me that when creating "The Diner" and his other horror adventures, he needed to include a rule book for anyone that hadn't played a Rule Zero game before. (Telling people "go download the free SRD" isn't a great idea, people want a complete product.) But selling the Horror RPG rulebook as a standalone book, with blurb about "chilling", "nightmare" etc is misleading as this you don't get any chilling nightmarish stuff within the rulebook itself. He's also done other horror scenarios/campaigns, it was in a backerkit (a kickstarter type thing), it included "Can You See Them", "The Arcade", as well as The Diner, and one other one as well. I didn't back it because I was skint at the time. I think that Can You See Them might be a more campaign-based game where you create your own characters, rather than pre-generated. So as part of that collection of books, the Horror RPG rulebook makes sense, it is everything needed to play the one-shot adventures with pre-generated characters, and longer adventures where you create characters and explore some creepy town and woods rather than being stuck in a diner. What would have been amazing though is if the Horror RPG rulebook contained The Diner, or vice versa, as then with the core rules you'd also get a bunch of example monsters and NPCs and situations. And then if you decide to create your own scenario or long campaign, you can create your own monsters and NPCs inspired by the ones included in The Diner.

James Spahn (the author) does a LOT (and I do mean a metric f-ton) of cool OSR / White Box material. White Star (Galaxy edition), for example, does sci fi--specifically Star Wars.

I’m new to the OSR scene, but the only way clerics barred from edged weapons makes sense to me is that it’s a religious thing not to slice someone up. But if they die by bludgeoning or piercing then they’re in the hands of the gods. Alternatively clerics from a certain religion barred from something else (ie ranged) for some kind of ideal might be cool.

Love the content. In addition to the new classes and subclasses and items, are there any adventures that are printed as well? Just found this rpg and my group loves it after one session but am needing more adventures. 😅

This looks fun. Ill check it out. Also, for mystery games, nothing beats the Mythic Mystery Matrix system.

First time I have come across your channel. Looking forward to learning how to roleplay solo....just retired so I finally have the time. Are there any of the Christian roleplaying games you would consider solo roleplaying?
@AdventuresWithDice
@AdventuresWithDice Ай бұрын
Thanks and welcome! As far as other Christian RPGs, the only one I know even a little about is For The Lord RPG by @StoryTellingRon. If you have suggestions of others I would love to take a look at them.
