As a 225lb beginner rider, I’ve ridden the 300xc and it felt like way too much bike for me to handle. I’m looking at buying the 150 xc-w, but I keep getting told I’m too big for the 150. Would a 250xc-w be better for me? Or should I be okay on the 150. I want something that I can get into the powerband without feeling like it’s trying to kill me. I like to ride single track and rough enduro kind of riding.
@BigIronMoto2 ай бұрын
Try to 300 XCW first. The XC model is tuned for racing so it is a way different ride than an XCW. The XCW (even the 300) is much smoother and will not put you in a wheelie when you give it gas. You may also want to consider a 500 EXC-F (four stroke) as it is also extremely smooth. I agree with other that the 150 is not your bike. Don't focus too much on the CC, the biggest issue is how they are tuned. A motocross 125 would be more dangerous for you than a 500 EXC or 300 XCW model ranges.
@joshmullins9634Ай бұрын
@@BigIronMoto quick update, Ive gotten way more comfortable on that 2020 300xc and have grown to love it after riding it everyday for a month, now my question is how much snappier is the ‘24 250xcw compared to the 300xcw. I’ve heard some things about the 300 “feeling slower” in the top end, where as the 250 requires you to be on the pipe a little more. I’m starting to lean towards the 250 if I’m being honest. It has reasonable bottom end, and pretty strong top end which is what I like.
@BigIronMotoАй бұрын
@@joshmullins9634 The XC is far more peppy and race oriented. The XCW is mellow, low power, excellent for trail riding and harder terrain. It depends a lot on your riding style. If you want to race, then go XC, if you want to trail ride, then go XCW. Either way, I would go 300 as the new TBI 300 has very smooth. linear power so it is there if you need it, but does not feel twitchy (like the XC). Hope that helps.

Does the 250 feel more nimble than the 300? Heard people pick 250 over 300 because of the handling.
@BigIronMoto2 ай бұрын
I wouldn't describe it that way. It is smoother at most people's riding pace with may translate into feeling "nimble". The 250 is a great bike. If you aren't competing or doing really wild stuff on the trails, the 250 is a perfect bike.

Was really looking for comments on the 450..
@BigIronMoto2 ай бұрын
Happy to answer anything I remember about it. I did ride the 450 and found it really nice. Torque felt great and 4T power made it extremely smooth through the trails. My first choice would be a 300XCW but that is only because I like doing hard enduro and having the lightness of the 2T is my preference. HOWEVER, if I was buying a bike as a guide or general trail riding, I would probably get the 450. I really liked the 450.

why do they have to make riding so lame and highly regulated?
@BigIronMoto2 ай бұрын
Could be a lot worse. Many jurisdictions don't allow riding at all or way more regulated. A lot of Europe is awful with virtually no places to ride. Plates, cheap insurance, and inexpensive trail pass seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I guess you can wear them whenever you like but pretty sure they are for outside so it doesn’t snag pants. Most wear Moto socks underneath so socks would be redundant. Braces generally come with socks that are for over, not under braces.
