Put full cup in bottom of pot, put in stainless pot n kept cooking. Drained out on counter. Didn’t stop cooking though. That’s how it’s designed, to drain n not electrocute. Continued on made a full pot of chilli, sautéing first then stewing. Didn’t wait for it to dry n it was awesome. Call me reckless, I do, this is a well made instrument made to be safe no matter how we screwup. Enjoy.

I made a big mistake. It's not the same model rice cooker but it's very similar. I didn't notice that the pot was not in and I threw in the rice and threw in some water. Then I almost turned it on. But I took it out. However rice is still stuck on the bottom. And I thought I could still cook rice so I put the pot back in when I found it. Smoke was coming out trying to cook it so I quickly turned it off after about a second. I cleaned the machine really well. But you can smell smoke all over the house. The rice still keeps coming out of the bottom. I had to put the rice into a container and save it. it can still be used. The one in the pot. I am afraid to use the cooker so I spent another $60, ebay, to buy a new one and I don't know how to dispose of the cooker. Unless I can be assured that I can successfully take out all the rice in the bottom and that it can successfully work when I put the pot back in. I would think this thing is fried. So now I don't know how to dispose of it like I said.😮 But a new one is coming. I could halt the purchase but I am not assured that this thing can work. I keep looking for information but this is the best I can do. This didn't help me in any way. So can anybody tell me: Will it still work in my case having had smoke come out? And can you take out all the rice successfully? My situation occur three hours ago and I'm still finding rice inside the cooker. Will it work once all the rice is out or will it still be broken and not cook?

Yeah, I agree with you about the flush mount looking better. But because of the limited space in our house and our closets are not deep, we decided to go on top of the wall. That 2" - 3" makes a big difference. It's just enough space for us to put Ikea boxes on that front floor space.
