So whenever there is a electrical storm Senior Giant wakes up and goes on a killing spree with a battle-ax. And when he gets tired of murder he buries himself again? The movie starts out with the locals upset about vicious murders happening in the area; yet the title character seems to have woken up for the first time. The logic of Schlock-Meisters.

American International remade this movie in 1967, in a low budget color version. Mainly follows the same script and general characters, but some important changes that (I think) actually made it better. *SPOILERS AHEAD* The "hero" is named Steve, and is much younger at 22. And the radiation mutated person he carries to the house is revealed as his brother, named Granger. The old prospector is actually a nearby rancher named Tim. (Winningly played by Billy Thurman). And there is no mule. The hoodlum guy is named Mickey, and he's nastier than in this film. The "gun moll" is named Jada. And when she does the strip scene, the Captain becomes outraged and smashes the record. The "atomic monster" is actually the fiancé of the daughter (shown in the picture). Who has mutated and developed extrasensory abilities.

I remember this movie. Was a young werewolf movie fan back then and I've collected just about every werewolf theme movie through out the decades. But to my knowledge, this one has never been available on DVD or Blu Ray format in an official release. Would like to add this one to my werewolf movie collection some day, hopefully soon.

The Sheriff (Bob Steele) played the evil hitman Canino in The Big Sleep. That was 1946. (Got shot by Humphrey Bogart.) That was one absolutely chilling performance he turned in back then. Other than that he mostly did Westerns. His career spanned six decades.

Tom Adams was a great actor, and should have been given more lead roles. This film is obviously a low-budget Bond spoof, but he could have been credible as Bond. From what I've seen, he mostly played cultured villains in TV dramas. I remember him particularly in an episode of The Avengers (probably the Tara King series) as the leader of a group of villains who take a family hostage in their home to act as a base for an assassination (something along those lines). Thanks for posting this.

After I saw this movie, for a while, when I'd try to sleep at night, I would very vividly see the werewolf face. I wasn't dreaming, I just couldn't keep from seeing the face when my eyes closed and the room was dark and there was nothing else to see. When ever anyone asks about movies that scared me, I always start with 1957 'I Was a Teenage Werewolf'. (1956 'Werewolf' not far behind). I was also around 7-9 years old when I saw those films. (Was also not quite 7 when I saw Eddie Romero dir./Roger Corman production Dr. Morea/Most Dangerous Game mash-up 'The Twilight People' in its theatrical release -- over my mothers better judgement).

Fun fact: Paul Stanhope and Harry Thomas did the make-up for the film. The full monster make-up was actually being worn by a man, Harry Wilson. Because of this, makeup creator Harry Thomas did not realize that the creature was supposed to be female until shooting began. All he could do at the last minute was apply lipstick to the creature.
