I don't believe this tbh. I believe Nanaya is shabriri (he took control of her). He tricked Midra into infecting the 3 fingers and orchestrated his torture so he'd become a lord, and have the 3 fingers as a backup.

Let me start by saying: Awesome hypothesis here! I think the evidence of Nanaya and Midra having a son and that this son was died and that torch is the body of the baby is stronger. Differently from Nashandra, Nanaya is painted with her hand literally on top of her stomach, which is classically a way to represent the woman expecting baby. Then, for the flavor text saying that what Nanaya is cradling is "what is left of man". The way I see it, "what is left" is not related to the remains of that man, but instead what the man left when he went to pursue the path of becoming the lord of the frenzy flame. As we see, he only accepts fully that path when we attack what is left of his body, in a kind of succeeding by giving up hope (the same way we are told to give up all of our possessions to be embraced by the three fingers). The feeble lord is a reference to the idea that we call the sons of a lord a "little lord", or in this case, a "feeble lord". It would be interesting to see the original Japanese text for this. Let me finish by saying: Awesome hypothesis here!!!

Thanks, Bro!! My problem with the whole child thing is that there's no mention of children in any way relating to Midra, Nanya, there, Manse, and even the Abyssal Woods, and in Elden Ring ,Children are a huuuuge deal so there's no way that if the child existed that they wouldn't be mentioned at all!!. I'm don't remember if mentioned this in the video but Nanya's dress is inspired by traditional Avar wedding dresses and they're very wide dresses so couple that with the fact that the colors on the painting might be fading or getting darker and it might create an illusion. So I think the painting was done to commemorate Midra and Nanaya getting together, and she's just raising her hand because of respect or etiquette. And thanks once again!!! I thought this video was a flop and lost in the KZbin wasteland😂.

Why isn't midra smiling like her? I believe Nanaya is shabriri (he took over her body). He manipulated midra into infecting the 3 fingers and orchestrated his torture so he'd become a lord. Originally they tried to have a kid which didn't work, so she had hin tortured in order to transform. When he refused to succumb from the pain, he abandoned Nanaya and went to trick the tarnished using the 3 fingers Metyr was abandoned because her fingers were easily corrupted

The reference to the King in Yellow is true, and it's not the first time Miyazaki does this. But saying that Midra is just a reference to Hastur does him a great disservice! What was borrowed from the King in Yellow is mostly aesthetics and some of the location. Midra is a tragedy of a sage who tried to understand Frenzied flame and stop it, but eventually succumbed to it. He was pierced by a sword that tears him from inside and endured the pain for unimaginable time to NOT become the Lord of Frenzied flame. And he succeeded, up until Tarnished came. As for the Frenzied Flame, I don't think it's just chaos. I want to look more into its symbolism. It is said to be a kind of impartial power that can melt away all the suffering and pain in the world, along with joy. It is said to be able to melt spirits, thus, stopping undeath and the circle of rebirth. I'm leaning more towards Frenzied Flame being a twisted Evangelion-ending-like kind of unity of all the living beings rather than chaos. And madness, madness occurs because there's no mind able to comprehend this kind of unity, no living creature having mental capability to weild this unstoppable force (which is also a reference to Lovecraft).

Thanks!! It's mind blowing to me how Miyazaki just decided to get inspired by a poem in the 60s and somehow he managed to fit it perfectly in his story! I already made a similar video about the influence behind Midra and how Metyr and the greater will might be Black Holes, go watch it if you liked this one. And thanks for the nice words!!! It means a lot!!

@Eddison333 ай бұрын
@@mmfsnotsakuga3408 I know of many not that obscure ones. The Norse and Celtic myths are all around (like the Erdtree, Godfrey's conquests, valkyries...), there's a huge reference to Christianity, crucifiction and crusades, Mesopotamian/ Babilonian myths about death and godhood and references to the corresponding ancient architecture, Egyptian myths of birth and godhood, seedbed curses are from Japanese folklore, and there's a reference to Izanami/Izanagi, Numen and Nox are references to Tolkien, astels are inspirations from Stephen King, then Lovecraft and the cults around outer gods... There is a lot of stuff mirroring G. Martin's TSOIAF, some references to Dark Souls and Bloodborne, a few parallels with Berserk... and the main story's unrevelling is one of the most blatant political commentaries in game media - they even named her Marika)
@mmfsnotsakuga34083 ай бұрын
@Eddison33 yeah if you love to see the ancient inspirations you should check Tarnished Archeologist he has some absolute bangers And if you wanna see more weird inspirations then check the video I made before this one about Two DLC bosses Also I never made the Marika connection, I thought it was just GRR Martin doing his thing 😂
I just noticed that King Jeremiah from Dark Souls might also be a King In Yellow. So maybe he was the original Yellow King that Miyazaki made and like always he expanded on it in later games like Elden Ring.

"The hat of Count Ymir, High Priest. The circular design at the top represents the Greater Will and its lightless abyss" for me this line makes clear that the Geat Will is a black hole. "The words of the Three Fingers. As your maiden, allow me to divine them. All that there is came from the One Great. Then came fractures, and births, and souls. But the Greater Will made a mistake. Torment, despair, affliction... every sin, every curse. Every one, born of the mistake. And so, what was borrowed must be returned. Melt it all away, with the yellow chaos flame. Until all is One again. No more fractures...no more birth..." from this Hyetta dialogue (All that there is came from the One Great) you can make some sort of argument that the One Great could be the big bang.
@mmfsnotsakuga34083 ай бұрын
That's cool I didn't really notice it!! But I think the greater will is an entity and the big bang is an event, so maybe it was the greater will that caused it, you know something like the Old One in Demon's Spuls is like god, and souls and soul arts and Demons came from it and now it wants to get them back. So maybe the Greater Will wants things back, maybe Marika caught on to this and that's why she removed death and was punished by the Elden Beast for it, and maybe the Erdtree is something like a portal or Space Elevator that sends the souls of the dead to the Greater Will to consume!?! It's always been weird to me how everyone thinks the Erdtree is special but then we discover at the end of the game that there are countless Erdtrees so maybe the Greater Will is doing this to diff worlds as well? We already know that the Erdtree is a parasite. This is unhinged speculation but maaaaybe!?

ymir talk about how everything was created in a blast of energy or something (the big bang). i do like the thoery on the greater will being a black hole, with a lot of cosmic themes and it being far away but never seeming to actually come here maybe the centre of the games galaxy? i was thinking the the one great would just be the universe, creation? or using my previous thought the galaxy. all just spit balls though
