Awesome memories,i was there that night, this was filmed in the little Room before you went upstairs into the main room. The great dancer in the black slacks with red stripe is a old mate from Stafford,.greig. Fantastic dancer, as was my 60s mafia hero Keb darge. I do believe another old friend of mine John Pugh now has kebs copy of the tune he's playing here. Little jonn "just wait and see". On go gate record label...rarerer than rockin horse shit, i remember John telling me someone offerd him a grand for his copy back in the day and he said" which side do you want mate".. it's memories like that that are as priceless as these records! 🎶🎶👍👍🛵

Thank you so much mark for more amazing Stafford memories! Ahhh bliss Freddie North" the Hurt" also remember my Mate Roger Banks playing this at parr hall All nighter Warrington. It was worth the traveling just to hear this one track! Along with Jimmy ruffin "don't feel sorry for me. George Smith.." I've had it" and Jack Montgomery" Don't turn your back on me". Not to mention another Stafford legend dj, Chris king spinning Stuart aims "Angelena oh Angelena" and the flip side," King for a day".👍👍🛵

I was there!! It was the 2nd Annerversery, Leicester was my 1st All nighter venue , went to my 1st one on my 18th birthday!! Boy what a present! it changed my life! along with the Top of the world Stafford. What a great night this was!! I've still got my copy of the VHS video from the night! And the Annerversery patch! I'd like to dedicate this to a friend who's in this video, dancing to "many a slip" great spinner, great dancer, never wore a top on a dance floor, known to his mates as pickle, died far too young... Gary rushbrook filled that dance floor from his 1st spin to the last of his spot. A lot of what he played were also massive Stafford tunes, my favourite played by him was" lonely lover" by Jimmy McFarland. Still get goosebumps listening to it 38 years later! Awesome memories, bless you for posting this video! So much appreciated!👍👍🛵

Bless you Mark for these wonderful Stafford memories!! Ahhhh" Bobby valentine's use it before you lose it" covered up as Rex Garvin! Yes I even remember most of the cover up artists! .. Pat Bradys " Mr.misery",he covered it up as Robbie Lawson, .. i Still remember writing these tunes down on the back of beer matts! No chance of shazaming these beauties back then! God imagine the look on those djs faces if you could have walked in with a mobile phone and done that back then! Talk about 60s mafia? I think you would have been shot just like the real thing! Lol i remember the top djs from the top nighters uncovering the records and naming their top 10, in the couple of pages dedicated to the Northern soul scene in the back of the black echo music news paper,..yes no do it all on line in them day's, but just like our granny's used to say..,we hardly had anything compared to life these days but it sure was better!! On a sad note,i was truly saddened to hear that top dj and top bloke Keith minshall has recently passed away. rip Keith and bless you for the music that changed my life! 🎶🎶👍🛵

As a Stafford regular thank you so much for posting this! Each of these records is a great memory for me! Along with" Nottingham odd fellows club" the Leicester all nighter , Stafford all nighter changed my life!! Everything was so unique with the"Top of the world", like the fact it was on every two weeks as opposed to every other Venue that was on monthly. The turn over of new records being broke ( but not in the litrel scence) was astonishing!! And that's why it needed to be on every fortnight! I remember so many of us thinking, how come so many songs from 20years ago or more are only just being discovered? Well that was 37 years ago now when we thought that! and those feelings of amazement for those tunes is as strong now as ever! And I'm sure i speak for everyone else who was a true regular to that Life changing venue... I remember the night when Eddie Holman was there and the place was packed, Dave thorley said over the Mike.. Where have you lot come from!.. because sometimes there was only about 50 people there! Attendences could veiry quite a lot, but I'd have loved it even if i was the only one there!! I was actually on the chasing rainbows documentry shown on channel 4, back in the day's when you only had 4 channels on the telly! That was filmed on that night Eddie Holman was there, I'm even on the utube video at the end, on the dancefloor to Benny Troy's " i wanna give you tomorrow" it was a clip from the channel 4 documentry, the video is combined with another well known clip from a Wigan documentry shown back in the 70s. Wonderful memories.i could write a book! Some of you might say,i just have! 🎶🎶🛵

I'm not goin' to watch this again but .. the Mick Hucknall's phrase, from memory, where he says - "I never went to Wigan but, I think..." Why is that included and he included in this?? Not his fault that he's been include but really.. ??

Accidentally got into the Northern soul scene at school. Was to young for Wigan. My first all nighters where TOTW.The music tho was so different to the Casino Classics type manic soul sounds I had first listened to as a kid. Some of the Latin influenced stuff just blew me away. The Soul scene apparently went through a dark age in the 80's/90's..not for me...loved it✊🏿✊ Ktf
