Why are the prices even high!? Hardly anything happens here. Ignore this place, just skip straight to Santa Barbara.

I'm from Scotland but we've visited family in Ventura ever since I was born. Ventura will always have a special place in my heart. It was always so comforting driving in from LAX seeing Two Trees from miles away.

I was born and raised in Ventura, But sadly had to move away because everyone loved it so much that multi millionaires forced most locals 30years or younger be priced out.

In n Out has a legendary status, made by people from Cali who transplanted to other states. I had heard about In n Out in college from a guy from Cali, I heard about it in the army from a guy from Cali, I heard about it from a co worker where I was working after the army, etc. Anyway, a few years back my job had me go to Cali for like 2 months to train on different systems. I had been to Cali before as a teenager with family on vacation, but fast food isn't exactly on this list of our family vacations. The FIRST thing I did after getting off the plane and getting a rental car, was put In n Out in google and hit nearest one. Got there, got a burger and fries.... I was HUGELY disappointed. The burger itself was "good" It didn't blow my socks off, but it was good, I liked it. However, fries are a big part of the experience, and the fries sucked, and when I say sucked, I mean sucked. Like 2/10. totally weak. Not much flavor, poor texture, they tased like McDonalds fries that had been dropped in water, then dried and reheated. I spoke to the hypers about this, and they said "You need to get them animal style" basically, you need to dump so much crap on them, it's not fries anymore. Cardboard will tase good if you dump enough bacon and cheese and salt and fat onto it. Fries are an art form, good fries are like a fine chocolate, they should be good just as they are, with some salt. Good fries shouldn't need to be "animal style" or doused in ketchup, secret sauce etc. Now, if In n Out had fries as good as McDonalds or Five Guys, then Cali residents might have some bragging rights. Ever heard "Never meet your hero's" That's how it was for me and In n Out. Five Guys and Wataburger are both better. Sorry, that is my In n Out rant. Lets say you set your food budget at a cap of $900 a month (Single, don't drink alcohol very often, maybe an occasional beer if its a good cheap one) think you could eat ok? Like Monday you get taco stand for lunch, some cheap Chinese place for dinner, Tuesday you get a sandwich for lunch but treat yourself to a steak for dinner, etc. Would 750-900 a month be reasonable? I'm also big on not paying for parking, I'd be looking for places I don't have to pay. Id park in some big lot and walk if its cool out.

First, I have to ask - Does KZbin pay youtubers to use that music in videos? It is SO overused, if I hear that damn tune anymore, I am going to gouge my eardrums out. I feel like 1/3 youtube videos on locations use that tune. My opinion on music is just that - an opinion but the same 20 second tune playing over and over while you are speaking is really irritating. Anyway, besides that, thanks for the video, there is some good informative stuff here. I am moving to Ventura for work, I am a single guy so I am going for an apartment for at least the first year while I get a lay of the land. Nobody has done a video going over the apartment complexes in Oxnard/Ventura. I get you make your living by selling houses, but it would be nice if someone did an apartments video, the pros and cons of each. I am leaning towards The Wagon Wheel or Tempo at the moment, looking for new construction within 25 (max 30) minutes of Point Mugu NAS.
@livinginsandiegocalifornia1952 жыл бұрын
I love your honesty! And actually you have to post to use the music there’s some findings that show it helps with retention for most ppl when watching a video but not all. As far as apartments 99.99% are ran through management companies so i can’t help anyone who rents. But if you text text or email me the places you’re considering renting i can send you some pros and cons contact info is in the description of my videos

Hi Rally (I hope I spelled it correctly). I wish there was a way to DM you, but I am thinking about moving to Ventura next spring/summer. I have a potential job offer for next year, will be making pretty decent $$ CASH-OH-LH $$ and have never even been there. I have two friends that live there and they swear by it. I am originally centrail CA (wayyy to hot) and the other half of time from Long Beach. But, my friends swear by Ventura. What do you reccommend? I'll probably rent my first year then look to buy a home/condo if I enjoy it. Hope to hear from you!!!

It’s way too expensive to live there and too much homeless people.

The best thing about Ventura is the cool climate. Unfortunately, there are very few good restaurants. The only one I've ever really liked was Cafe Fiore, an Italian Restaurant in downtown. Also, many of the homes seem to be run down and have many cars parked in front of them. Lots of well kept homes too, of course. The Ventura Concert Theater is great. I saw a lot of concerts there in the early 80s when I was in high school, driving down 126 from Santa Clarita.

Only a realtor would boast of nothing but positivity of the city they sell in, oh wait you jumped ship to San Diego now. Ventura, and generally the county as a whole is not what is was 20 years ago. I lived throughout Southern California for 40+ years with VC being my roots, and it is certainly not a city I would reccomend.

There are no pros to living in kalifornia!!
@Cruor342 жыл бұрын
I'm super far to the right on the political spectrum. The weather is amazing and there are a lot of high paying jobs, great food, tons of outdoor activities, and the beach. Also, just a fact, because the weather is so nice, people are outside more, thus in better shape overall, and since there is so much good warm weather, on average the women in Cali are much more attractive than the women in say.. Arkansas. As nice as it is to be able to go shoot in a field with a military grade rifle with a 30 round mag in some mid West state, you miss out on a lot of what CA does have.

I knew it! You're selling real estate. The Good Venture name needs to be changed by the racist anti history City council. JTS headed a group to remove the cross. That was unsuccessful but did manage to rip down Father Serra who founded The Good Venture - San Buenaventura. AND KEEP YOUR DOGS ON LEASH if it's not an off leash park. Not all dogs appreciate being run up on by "friendly" dogs

Big con, high real estate prices. Mobile home cost a 1/2 million bucks. Rents are super high! Property taxes are insane, average home tax for new purchases are over 7k a year. Welcome to LA light!!! The homeless are aggressive and all over downtown.

I live here and love it as well, but for the vacationer's, careful around the area of main st and rte 33, known as the river bed, it draws alot of homeless and most are meth heads who bum at Vons area.

Great points made. However, parking is not free and it is directly tied to the costs of living we see on the rise. Parking is paid through mechanisms pre usage. Example is minimum parking requirements (1 spot per xSqFt of building) for new development. This code drives development standards and shapes the landscape. While Ventura has 'free' on and off street parking at the moment it would be wise to abolish the requirement in our downtowns and place car parks on the outskirts encouraging human powered modes of travel. Ventura is insanely bike-able and could only get better with this plan.

Really enjoying your videos. Very well done and real informative. But your content stopped a year ago. Are you still in Real Estate in Ventura? I hope all is going well for you man.
