Sir could you clarify if self compliance report submitted within one year from the date of grant of NOC. But we have not installed water flow meter. Are we supposed to be liable for penalty as per section 16 or not. Kindly suggest on this.

Ok people do not poach Asian 🐘 at least not in countries where Buddhism ☸️ and Hinduism 🕉 exists such as the subcontinent of 🇮🇳. That’s because people who are Buddhists or Hinduists perceive Asian 🐘 as one of the top most sacred animals in their culture and religion. Plus it’s absolutely illegal to kill 🐘 in Asia especially in 🇮🇳 and other Buddhist and hinduistic countries where Asian 🐘 are sacred. Maybe in countries like 🇹🇭 but India and other Hinduistic and Buddhist countries poaching of Asian 🐘 is absolutely not a problem at all. The real and major threat to Asian elephants are habitat loss and human and wildlife conflict when elephants raid 🍚 and paddy fields at night.

Sri Lanka and various other Hindu countries take wild elephants, break their spirit, and dress them up to be ridden down the street for their religious holidays. They’re also chained up at the temple for days on end in these costumes with a tent shielding them from the heat standing on concrete which their feet are not meant to endure. In order for a wild elephant to be trained for a person to ride it some form of abuse or “discipline” is used. So as revered or sacred as they say these elephants are to them some of their actions say differently because no elephant was born to be dressed up or ridden for religious holidays or for tourism. You can tell an elephant is in distress when they’re swaying from side to side and many of them are doing that while chained up at the temple. There is also another so called sanctuary in the Sri Lanka that claims to be a sanctuary and tourist can pay to see the elephants by the river but the workers use high pressured water hoses to spray the elephants into the position they want them to be in by the riverside and then chain them to a rock nearby. Same sanctuary also offers elephant rides. Thailand has one of the most renowned elephant sanctuaries ran by a Thai woman named Lek. Her facility has rescued many elephants used for the logging industry, circus, tourists stupid desire to ride elephants and elephants used for begging. She has been working with the Thai government to make many changes regarding the use of elephants in Thailand but Rome wasn’t built in a day and these changes like Rome will not happen over night. Not a single elephant has chains on them and they are allowed to roam as free as they possibly can for being an elephant in captivity. What tourists pay to do at at the Elephant Nature Park is to volunteer their time to these beautiful creatures by preparing the food they put out for them to eat throughout the day or a volunteer that has vet experience can assist on picking up an elephant that their sanctuary rescued to ensure that the trip to Elephant Nature Park is as stress free as possible. Volunteers can babysit the new born babies that require medical attention or they can just play with them. To say that elephants in Hindu or Buddhist countries are not harmed bc of how their religion views them is a very broad and bold statement and to imply that another country, specifically Thailand may abuse them more then countries like Sri Lanka or India is a very uneducated comment. Yes Thailand is or was known for using elephants in the logging industry but they have taken steps to correct this gross use of elephants by imposing a nationwide logging ban. Just like in Africa, poaching is illegal but those disgusting people still go out and poison their drinking water and kill an entire herd of elephants as well as all wildlife that drank out of that water source just to get the tusk from one elephant. There’s a documentary called Sri Lanka’s Elephant Hell that you or anyone can watch to see how elephants are treated in this country.
