Elana, I am so grateful for your information! Our family house is on Encina, right next to the state park. Yours is the only information I have gotten about this area. Your knowledge about the area is stellar! Thank you so much! (My family had the Roches living next to them for many years, I thought you were them, but when checking with my sister in law, she said their neighbors moved away several years ago, so probably ont you, but thank you so much for your updates! You are a treasure, thank you again. (My family are the Storks. Do you know them? They have been on the area since the '70's). Please keep your updates coming! We are all relying on them!!! Storkmom

Thank you! Incredibly detailed and very informative film, very generous of you to share your knowledge! I can say, that for me some things became clearer, while others more obscure 😅 For example, the rock in the foreground - why it had to be made smaller, if things, that are closer to us, generally look bigger? Also, I didn't get the bit about clouds- if for the purpose of balancing the values there should be more clouds, why not make just a bigger cloud reflection in the water? ( Especially, as there is a big cloud in the sky, and reflection should...reflect it?) 😮 I'd like to mention as well, that none of my questions should be taken as criticism of the initial painting, which I liked very much, but only as a attempt to understand the concept of composition.
@ElenaRoche Жыл бұрын
Good questions, thank you for asking. The rock had to be smaller because it drew too much attention away from what seemed to be the main focus conceived by the artist, the water with reflections and the movement toward what is beyond the tree. The rock felt more like an obstacle on the way where the eye wanted to go, diagonally from lower right to upper left. Note, that I didn't change the sizes of other rocks, thus preserving that feeling of them being closer to us. What I did with clouds was a choice for design's sake. I did wonder why that large cloud was not shown reflecting in the water. I surmised that there were more clouds high above and they would reflect in the middle of the composition because the artist included two diagonal cloud reflections there. I took the original choice of the artist to have smaller cloud reflections and reorganized those to improve the composition while respecting his/her choice not to include the large cloud's reflection. Had I been there on location, I would have helped with the accuracy of capturing the cloud reflections, but as it is, I have to respect the artist's choices.
