My headcanon is that his issues stem from the deep-seated suspicion that the man who raised him is not his real father. His real father, of course is Space Ghost. This was finally admitted to him at the beginning of an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

I like how he's the only actually crazy person and isn't just spitting bad standup bits but actually discussing his (obsurd) issues with dr. katz like he's actually at a psychiatrist. Which makes it actually funny.

Favorite parts of this: "jeez!" at the end High pitched "get wet" background singer(s) chiming in now and then Miller's Crossing Reference the underlying beat the amount of glaze and frosting that ends up on everyone's faces and bodies

Stephen Wrights was definitely one of the best interviews/sessions He and Katz, the way they work off each other, how Katz is more involved: it’s quite engaging Though I’m biased: wright was a big influence on me

I never had the slightest idea that "Intrusive Thoughts" was a thing in the 90s, thought it was coined in late 2010s, if only I would've known. It plagued me.

I would imagine that this is even funnier if you see a doctor, lol. When I was a kid in NYC, my family had me take a Rorschach test from a "college student" studying to be a "shrink." As an adult I realize now they wanted to know if I was like crazy Stephen Wright!

And it's hard to get the show too nowadays. Looked it up, it's like over $200 on Amazon. I'm grateful I got it like $100 when it first came out on DVD, the entire series.

This is the first time I've actually watched a clip of this series. Big fan of the later "Home Movies" and of H. Jon Benjamin. What really strikes me about this, besides just the fact that they let Steven Wright be Steven Wright in a perfect foiling manner, is how respectful the treatment of the clinical atmosphere is. Dr. Katz sounds like an actual therapist. It's high time I actually watch this series.
