Thank you so much for this video! I used to play this game back when I was a kid almost 20 years ago and I remember I had such a blast even though it could barely even run on my moms PC lol. Now I look at it and I think oof, it looks pretty bad, but my 7 year old brain remembered it as this amazing game that let me raise some kind of gremlin looking creatures, and I still remember all of the sound effects and areas and little things to do that kept my little 7 year old mind occupied haha.

This game was supposed to be easier for children to play....tell that to my 6 year old self that couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to do.

Holy nuts I've been through the beginning of the game so many times and I never noticed the horse's body :O

You have a very interesting opinion, thinking that both of these characters were inherently "bad" or "a**holes". But I think you may have missed some very key points in the story. There was obviously a real lack of communication in their friendship, on both sides. On Davey's side, he never asked to play the games, he just took them. Remember that Davey said the house cleaning game was the ONLY game that Coda asked him to look at. Coda never made these games for anyone to see or play, he made them for himself, he didn't need that external validation from others like Davey did. But then Davey poisoned his work by bombarding Coda with his opinions on what a game "should" be. Davey said they got into many heated arguments about that topic. But it doesn't matter about what Davey defines a game as, those games weren't for HIM, they were for Coda himself. Davey wouldn't just let them be what they were, he had to try and put his own meaning into the game, changing them into something else, adding lampposts or putting endings to games for his own selfish reasons. Davey also never even ASKED his own friend if he was depressed, he just took the games without asking, and assumed Coda was depressed. Coda was never the depressed, helpless, incomplete person that Davey portrays to us, it was really just Davey projecting his own sadness and loneliness into Coda's games the whole time. And on the side of Coda, he should've talked to his friend more or at least confronted him when he found out he was showing his games to people and changing them. Imagine this though, let's say you're an artist who makes paintings not to show anyone, you just make them because that's what you like to do. Then imagine your friend takes your paintings without asking, paints over your artwork, then shows them to everyone, telling them that you are desperate and depressed, then takes joy in the praise he gets from these people for the artwork that was never his and that he lied to them about. How betrayed would you feel, when this "friend" did this to you? Davey said he needed to be someone else, to see himself in someone else's work, to get that praise that he needed to feel happy or content. And so what he saw, what he projected into Coda's work was himself, namely depression, anxiety, loneliness, self-hatred, etc etc.. Nonetheless I really do enjoy your playthroughs and look forward to more great videos, I subbed because I do enjoy your opinions and videos. My interpretation of the "game" This game is not about this person called CODA, but Davey's (the real developer Davey Wreden) conflicting views on game dev. CODA, the creative/artistic side and "Davey" the more pragmatic side. Struggling to make something, sometimes just for the sake of it, just to try things out... that was what defined CODA's games. "Davey" infected CODA's creations making them "games", with goals, solutions, something "playable". What irked "Davey" was not knowing the point of a concept (like the three dots) or why a "game" should exist (ah, the memories of so many meetings with executives and higher ups that just "don't get it") Like in Davey's previous game (Stanley Parable), we have two characters that are at odds at each other, but again both need each other. In the beginning I was struggling to make sense of the game name, but now it just makes sense. It is a great advice to anyone starting a job or career, you have to understand the ideals, but you have to be pragmatic. You need both sides to "make it" (whatever you create) PS: I just laughed when you said that "both" are as******
