In these sorts of games, I tend to favour small elite forces over large, basic ones. Great game

I know this is an old video but I decided to make an empire ogre army for the old world and decided to get some of these to accompany some other sculpts. So glad you showed the size difference. I only need a few full bodies (will use some top half's to convert mournfang) I may use the ogres as my musicians and paint them as little drummer boy ogres / young ogres for use as musicians

Gonna use these as unit fillers for my old world empire army

Has the been any change to the firing smoke rule? I don’t like how the defender in version 2 gets to choose where the smoke lands if it doesn’t land on target.

It all sounds very Benign until you start looking at the new platoon builder element and realize you could be facing 8 artillery pieces and a couple of artillery observers, suddenly it becomes Artillary Action, slightly different to Bolt Action.

Thanks for the summary. Have avoided all the videos on V3 up to now as some were just guessing at what would be in there.

I can't really argue with any of the changes.

Had a flip through and thought that the updates were pretty good. The only negative thing in my mind now is the re-purchasing of the army books. Looking forward to playing a game where 6s followed by 6s are rare.

All the updates are soo good. The game played so much smoother now.

Nice game,but the Italian section, not platoon (platoon=3 sections) would consist of a rifle section of 10 men plus 1 nco and 2 lmg sections of 8 men in total plus 1 nco making a section a total of 20 men.

Hi, The XL scenario with 22 star support goes through the cards and rule changes for a 6x4 upscaled game with multiplayers if wanted. :)

Well explained and some nice pictures. My friend and I played a lot of "Congo" and really liked the mechanism there. When it comes to the other two games...BA is okay...a bit too much Hollywood at times and a bit too random. All the mentioned things (Japanese with bamboo sticks) don't really happen in my playing group as we don't play any tournaments...non competative only. CoC is well liked by some in our region and it is definitely historical but it is too boring for me...maybe too much of a simulation. My concern for VfV might be that it is focused on late war atm and that the variation of possible activation cards might get a bit boring after some time (happened to us with Congo) and the restriction to rather small games.

This is the video I've been looking for! It does sound from this that it is a solidly designed game that sits in the "simple pickup game" space, which I've always felt is a gap in WW2 gaming, with BA being the "competitive & cinematic" one, and CoC being "is this perhaps a bit too realistic to actually be fun?" one - and both having a lengthy-ish learning curve too. I may well try and get the club to buy in on this on the back of this video ...

Thank you for the very useful video. I have the rules and the extras and will be giving this game a solo try soon. I do not enjoy Bolt Action and I am hoping this will be a good way to use my 28mm figures.
