The Romex you have is likely 14 gauge wire. When you switch over to the 30 amp input, I suggest using a heavier gauge wire. 10 gauge should do the trick. There's more heat in the transfer of electricity when you increase the amperage. While using the 14 gauge wire should be okay, you don't want to open yourself up to the possibility of an electrical fire. Anything after your breaker should be fine with the 14 gauge romex because the breaker will trip if there is any issue with the circuit. Hope that's helpful.
