Maybe this is easy for someone who knows how to knit but I'm a complete beginner and this is way too quick for me to follow. Not a criticism, just a word of warning for other total beginners to brush up a bit first.

How is this cute? It looks unfinished and not very creative. why put untied ribbon on it?
@iKNITS3 күн бұрын
@@---Biiiiiird you can always make a bow on the top but that looks too frilly for my taste. I like the simplicity and deciding on which ribbons as well as placement was a very creative process.

How well does the silicone water guard hold up? I've never heard of it, but i make alot of outdoor decorations and need something to help them hold up to the weather better than spray top coat. Thank you for sharing, it is a beautiful wreath
@iKNITS3 күн бұрын
@@brandygriffiss I’ve had it up for over a month and it has rained and I live in a very humid place and so far it still looks the same as when I finished it so I would highly recommend the silicone water guard. Let me know if you try it and how well it works! I’ll keep you updated as well

If you keep both ends long you can tie it onto the hat. Also if you cut an 8x4" piece of cardboard and fold it in half, put a long piece of yarn inside the fold, wrap the yarn around the cardboard and cut along the unfolded end of the cardboard, hold the yarn together and remove the cardboard, tie the yarn tightly, trim the yarns and give it a good shake to fluff it. Weave both long ends into the hat on opposite sides of the top gather and tie them tightly. Then weave the ends into the hat and cut the ends.

The provisional cast-on in the pattern doesn't work nicely for me, when "unzipping." This looks like it works better. I'm working on the 6th hat and struggled each time. I wish I had found this video before now! I'll be sure to follow your instructions the next time I make this pattern. And I'm sure I will make more. Thank you.

Would love to try this! I do have double pointed needles, but how many do I use? I'm a bit confused! Do I distribute the 8 cast on stitches over 4 DPNs? Also, the original pattern seems to use super bulky yarn, but you used bulky yarn and the same size needles as the original - so either super bulky or bulky would work?
@iKNITS5 күн бұрын
Hey, DPNs are a little tricky to use. You use them all while the last one is empty, and you just keep switching the “empty” needle as you knit around. I’m pretty sure my owl was made with super bulky yarn. I would stick with that size.

My recommendation to new knitters is to 1.learn continental style 2. do your own double pointed needles from bamboo sticks 3.make a hook shape to one tip of the needle and sandpaper them to give them soft slipping surface 4.use hooktips for pulling the yarn. I wish I knew all these at the beginning. Low cost, no hand wrist pain and fast knitting! That is all
