An amazing movie. When it was released. My Dad was a cement mason. He and my Mom and my brother and sister saw this movie together. To build anything especially a chapel or cathederal. Its an act of faith and hope in the future. The people who made this movie and Poitier left us all a gift.

Sidney Poitier was a trailblazer. During the civil rights struggle he would take a stand for the truth. As the apostle Paul stated all of mankind came from one CREATOR. When our MESSIAH returns we will see the new world of only peace and love. AMEN.

What a wonderful premise. A guy stolen into a job, then gets into his mind that he must do it all by himself, only to have to succumb to the fact the passion was always there in the hearts of the natives/locals. All that they needed was a leader. The Mother Superior, evidently, had already made a direct connection to God.

Who really built the 'Shapel?' Homer Smith attempted to build it by himself. Sister Maria had the vision and insisted God would build it. In these scenes, it's clear the congregation was generously involved. Who built it? All the above, in different roles.
