I agree with everything. I started when I was almost 50. Now I play in the orchestra with increasingly challenging pieces. There is no age limit. Our only limit is believing that we can't reach certain levels because we are not very young. Of course, the violin is no picnic but everything can be overcome with willpower and passion

Thank you so much for this, and for Silent Night! I just recently started learning violin and it was really cool to be able to play Silent Night over Christmas for my family and now Auld Lang Syne for New Year's. You have great content!

I continued by having my student play the octave double stop , in order to see whether it's 'out' or not - it is however, difficult to figure what a student is hearing, exactly

We had not used a tuner much, and they weren't available when I started , but recent my violin student had been using one to tune ; and subsequently to use in a song - occasionally. I try to get her to compare the d on the a string to the open D , and tell her it's the same note . She has a bit of difficulty'matching' the sound; the concep of the octave complicates the process

This is genuinely brilliant I have relieved shoulder and neck pain that I’ve had for years and my vibrato is far better also as a result

I agree with you entirely. scales and arpeggios, intonation are more important and it should lead to the vibrato. i can only vibrate for 5 second because of my bow Pb...Someday...Thanks again
@ladjazzz28 күн бұрын
well the bow is my main issue, very frustrating. Trying to practice long bows with the metronome...we 'll see....May you have a good day.

I'm a bass player. Thank you for this explanation, very good. Portrait of Tracy is a song on bass and is good example of harmonics and harmony. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4OwYnebe7N5orc

Also, another reason is failing to adjust the wrist by curving it out when bowing up to the frog and bending it in when bowing down to the tip.

These are very good tips, thanks. Unfortunately, unless you want to send me a better violin I have to stick with cheap as cheap can be as I am 40 with kids and they get stuff first lols. Thanks again for the tips!

I'm a pianist and teacher. I recently teaching orchestra and i picked up violin. My hands can reach an 11th on the piano so it's safe to say i have pretty big hands. Even in first position, I have to scootch my fingers to play a C from a B and vice versa. But I'm having a blast. This is the first bow instrument I am playing and I'm in awe how different it is from the piano.
