Im building a vertical lathe i have my z,x and c axis(spindle all working perfectly) but the turrett wont show up in setup machine model i have it added in kinematics with it all defined to start in my kinematics i have static with all of my base selected then z i have all of my z axis and then my x axis under z and then the turrett cuz its mounted on the x but rides up and down with the Z axis then i have a rotary axis (C) and main spindle under that. Ive made sure i didnt have the turrett accidentally selected in anything else in setup machine model ive restarted fusion idk why the turrett isnt in my setup machine model? Example in my kinematics: Static Z X Turret C Main spindle

Thanks for the video! Is there any way to set it so you have the same chamfer amount for different size holes so the spot drill won't go in the same depth every time? I would guess I would need to make a separate operation for each hole to be able to do that?

Hey! A little late to the party, but love the video. Our shop has a lot of 4th Axis slot machining around the A axis, and I've been waiting for a couple of years for Fusion 360 to update their milling process options to include that but nothing as of yet. It is a pain to do what you showed in the video, working with 6 different origin points(G54,G55,etc..) on one face on your particular fixture, and then having to manually change the A axis positioning. But Cheers anyways! I will keep on waiting

why do people do PIP in their videos? It's so distracting! Is it ego, oh look at me, I'm more important than the subject I'm teaching.

Hello very helpful video,, I have a CNC with two vertical spindles and two horizontal spindles on the side can you also make this machine in machine creation, the closest machine is a regular 3 axis cnc and will need to add the additional two horizontal spindles, could you help me with that?

Hey Phil great video. Can you guys do a video on tool library. would be nice to see how to organize and standardize tooling. Tool definition would also be great, sometimes its hard to define tools correctly especially complex form tools.

This is a great video. But I feel like there was one step you missed. You did not go back into the 2nd bore and remove the stock to leave. In other words the hole is undersize by 0.05". Is this correct? It was understood, but just want to verify
@snoopsnet8150
@snoopsnet8150 3 ай бұрын
This was my understanding as well. Edit: Update! I learned from another video that using it this way honors the "stock to leave" of the previous cut when updating the tool wear. Thus if you had 0.05 stock to leave, the tool wear update looks for that 0.05 and updates correctly. You DO however need to make sure you uncheck the "stock to leave" on the following operation to make sure you're cutting exactly to spec.

Good, quick, useful info... But, I'm still looking for what numbers go into the Haas Next Gen offsets page for the tool. Example 1/2” end mill that measures 0.5003" and starts at 4" from spindle. I want fusion to say the tool is 0.5000" and the wear is whatever the machine probes it differently. The offsets page should show 0.5003 actual diameter and some number for wear. I'm guessing it should be -0.0003" so that is used to move the toolpaths a bit farther away from the desired line. It just seems to me that Fusion should always know the advertised size but not the wear while the control should know the actual diameter and the wear. So how do I get the probing cycle in the machine to enter a wear value of 0.0003" (not sure if it should be positive or negative!) and a nominal value for actual diameter. Doing this should mean that replacing the tool and probing it let's me use the same nc program without changes and repeated tool probing constantly updates the wear value. Thank you to anyone who answers!

very helpful but.... I maintain a post for GRBL based controllers and noticed that if I do not select a machine I get Gcode that does exactly what I expected, correctly engraving a 40mm diameter workpiece in the 4th axis at Z19.3, but if I select a machine with a model (started with the autodesk generic 3axis router and added a rudimentary A axis) and 4th axis it wants to set a tool offset of about 23mm and then engrave at about Z-53. so far I have not figured out where the extra offsets come from, any ideas? While GRBLhal does support TLO it is mostly not used in the hobby router world and we expect everything to be relative to the current WCS without any machine or tool induced offsets, we just probe the end of the tool on the stock for Z0. Generally no ATC on hobby routers, no tool offsets used. thanks

Thank you! With the help of this video I was able to simulate 4th axis milling on my AVID CNC and prevent crashing into my workholding while minimizing wasted stock. I ended up using the Autodesk Generic 3-Axis Router in the Fusion Machine library, measured, modeled, and animated my existing Rotary Axis chuck and jaws in Fusion 360 and added an A axis to the table via machine configuration. It worked great!

What if I have a mount on a table and it's pausing in its pathway causing chatter. The material is silicone. Tool path verified. Looking at the table, it pauses on each liner process ever so slightly.

Now that fusion 360 supports Apple silicon. It is hands down a slam dunk no brainer to switch over to Mac. I have been running fusion 360 on a M2 MacBook Air and it is incredible how well it now runs. Most importantly I ran for around 2 hours and my battery was still @ 75%.

wow! thanks for the video! im just getting started with cnc machining as a hobbies, and this did such a good job explaining the differences. I feel like it was as short and concise as you could have made it while still conveying the differences. all the different examples really helped illustrate the differences. I really liked the gcode direction change point comparison, i think that helped peek behind the curtain just a little on how fusion is strategizing for the different options. thanks again for sharing your knowledge on this!
