I have to disagree with all the "excuses" offered by the military in this instance. The military, in their training, "brainwashes" their students from the get go. They offer NO opportunity for rebuttal - their (instructors) word is that of authoriy (i.e., Us Army or Navy or Marines or Air Force) with no question. Students are required to absorb all the training an live by/enforce, as the case may be, without question. It has been this way forever in the military as long as I can remember! I was an instructor in the US Navy for 13 years and this the way it is. Don't believe what they are saying!

I was an Army Nurse Corps Officer and abused by my Officer spouse at the time from 2009-2019. He threatened to kill me multiple times, shot a g*n 5 ft away from me in our home with our 3 year old son sleeping upstairs, put car keys to my neck and threatened to slash my throat while I was doing his laundry, kicked our puppy and broke his leg for peeing on the kitchen floor, abused our son and so much more. It was all swept under the rug, including violating PO's and threatening me not to testify against him. This happened at Fort Belvoir, Fort Irwin, and Fort Sam Houston and I went to everyone for help: Command, MP's, IG, JAG, FAP & Chaplains. No one cared at all and treated me like I was a bother to even bring it up. I was bullied by Command, shunned by peers and even laughed at by some I reported this to. When I went to JAG to tell them my rights as a victim were being violated according to their own UCMJ, they told me there was nothing they could do. They even sent him to Sexual Assault/Forensic Nurse Training during all this, despite my reports and pics of possible abuse and SA to others. I finally had to resign my commission just to escape it all. He never spent a day in jail and continues to violate PO's even now since we're divorced. He went on to strangle his next girlfriend who was in the military. I have never felt so betrayed in my life, not just by him but by the military, too. I will never see the military the same way. Still waiting for justice.
