@@trump-ob5xl If you have seen it before it’s probably mine. I have been selling them on Reddit. It’s the only jig I know that looks like this. And there are a couple places to get kits that include all 4 pieces. bowman, max arms, Numich sell parts kits with all 4 pieces. I would highly recommend bowman. I’ve heard mis matched pieces might be in the kits from other vendors. Atlantic and RTI remove one of the sections like you mentioned. Also AKoptions.com (I think) has just torch cut receivers for $50. Last I checked, stock was low. Hope this helps. Thanks,

Solid info. When installing a replacement barrel, do you have any instructional guide/recommendations? I'm thinking about SBR'ing mine. Any recommendations of replacement 10.5" barrels for the cutts comp?
@connorvankalmthout46911 күн бұрын
@@BuffRANGE thanks for your interest in the tool! Yeah all wrenches come with a set of instructions. There is no defined torque setting for Thompson barrels so making as tight as reasonably possible is the general guideline. Once the barrel shoulder bottoms out on the reciever face torque climbs exponentially and a 300 ft lb torque will hold just as tight as 100ft lbs. I usually aim for around 150-200 foot pounds on the absolute top end. If you are thinking about SBRing it, you should, you won’t regret it! And Apex, Royal tiger imports have 1928 finned barrels, threaded for a cutts comp. Unless you have a 1927 finned barrel with a pressed comp, then you’ll need to get a 10.5” barrel from Kahr arms/ Auto ord. Last I checked, they were in stock.
@BuffRANGE11 күн бұрын
@ this is a 1927A1 from sometime around auto ordnance and then the Kahr acquisition. I don’t see a pin, is there a way to see if it’s pressed on vs threaded ?
@connorvankalmthout46911 күн бұрын
@ there is always a pin regardless if it’s pressed or threaded. You should see a pin right under the front sight post. And if it’s a 1927, even an earlier version, the comp will be pressed. For 1927s, I usually remove the pin, and place a wood block behind the comp and hit the wood with a hammer. The comp will slowly come off. Don’t attempt to hammer the comp directly, there needs to be an interface.

Hey Connor, I’m interested in a wrench if possible!
@bobg-e9o6 ай бұрын
I had been on wait list for the 10.5 barrel for 2 yrs, finally got it, did the SBR paperwork, got the 16in barrel off easy with pipe wrench as i did not care if it got dinged. I was not able to thread on the new barrel with simple strap wrench, looking at threads from the removed barrel and threads on the new one, they were not the same. according to gunsmith at Thompson/Auto ordnance the new threads are designed to "deform" as it is threaded on, never heard of this before, they said they would send me replacement barrel but it would be same thread issue. they would also not allow me to send it to them for install saying I would have to be present during install to comply with ATF SBR rules, i dont agree with that logic but anyways....what to do, utube search lead me to Connor and I sort of had to gamble on it. it was well worth it, had no problem with getting enough torque and tight grip to thread it on, I was really worried about damaging receiver threads if I got it started wrong and was torquing it hard. only word of advise is to take your time and loosen all 3 bolts each time you reset the wrench, I lost some finish due to not totally loosening the middle bolt, not a big deal since I was planning on a creakote job on it. no scratches, just rubbed the finish off a bit. Highly recommend this!

@@bigcmcg3946 I contacted alpharex and they shipped me out some resistors I needed to install on the headlights. @@connorvankalmthout469 much appreciated. I believe I narrowed the resistance to the rear lights as it only happens when brake pedal is depressed. Looking at resistors for the rear and contacting alpha rex. Appreciate the feedback.

For a one and done it's a bit pricey you should take deposits to hold and rent the tool out.
@connorvankalmthout4696 ай бұрын
@@SmokeNGunsBBQ I would say that everything is a bit pricy these days. I’d love to sell these for less but that is what I’ve calculated to make it worth my time. The price for the wrench is less than want any gunsmith in Reno would have charged me for this service, this service is also a speciality and many gun smiths won’t do it, not to mention you get to keep the tool. I also have no issues with customers reselling wrenches on the MGB forum if you would like to get some money back. Unfortunately I’ve considered renting tools and there are issues with that business model as well. All things to consider. Thanks,

Connor, I have a a 1928 with threaded Cutt Comp. Removed the pin. Will your tool clamp over the compensator for its removal? Or what do you suggest for unthreading the compensator without damaging it?
@connorvankalmthout4697 ай бұрын
Robert, once you remove the pin, the cutts comp should thread off. It could take some force to get started bc the pins used to be match drilled. My wrench will work with a 1928 but the cutts comp must come off first. I recommend watching some videos first on how to remove the cutts comp! Best, Connor
@RobertTurner-tz2uw8 ай бұрын
Connor. Do you have a tool for removing the Cutts Compensator? How about removing the grip mount? Your barrel wrench looks great
@connorvankalmthout4698 ай бұрын
Robert, It depends which model you have. The M1A1 and the 1927 will have a pressed and pinned cutts comp. In which case you would punch out the pin and press off the comp. If you have a 1928, it will be pinned and threaded. Some newer thompsons have the 14.5” barrel with a permanently attached cutts comp which my wrench will not work with because there isn’t a reasonable method for removing without the possibility of damaging the barrel or comp. Thanks for your question. Connor
@connorvankalmthout4698 ай бұрын
The grip Yang is held tight to the receiver via the shoulder on the barrel so there is no way to remove the grip tang without removing the barrel first. That is why the grip tang must be bent out of the way to get the wrench on. Once the wrench is fully seated the grip tang returns to its natural position.
@SmokeNGunsBBQ7 ай бұрын
You can probably wack it off woth a copper pipe and a hammer once you remove the pin. At least that's how I used to remove and install AK gas blocks and fsb.

Could you possibly weld the nuts into place to make this easier to use?
@connorvankalmthout4698 ай бұрын
I appreciate the recommendation. I am currently using grade 8 hardware on all new wrenches, and grade 8hardware would be an excellent choice to weld to the wrench, as you wouldn’t need to grind the coating off. I will definitely consider this for future builds! Best, Connor
