What I gravitate towards is: straight/slim/skinny mid to dark blue denim, black Frame Le Mini Boot style, black velvet skinny trousers, slightly wide black trousers, black long sleeve tees, a red and white Breton, cable knits, cashmere, statement knits, black coats and my red wool crepe coat for a pop of colour. I love mini skirts and shift dresses. I am interested in details, quality, linings, buttons and texture. I think it’s fascinating what we are all drawn towards 😊.

Those zip up tops which were horrendous previously and now are on trend are ageing in my opinion and waterfall cardigans are awful 😂

I love a statement button for cardigans as it’s one type of method of adding a statement but then the rest of the look is neutral but that’s my personal style. I do agree about how impressive buttons are, would you say that horn type brown buttons on a coat are good? I think they can be nice if it suits the colour of the coat?

Love all of these tips. #8 is what I'm focused on right now. I'm on a budget and saving for a couple really big life goals, so shopping Quince, etc. isn't an option at the moment. But I work FT in an office and really want to upgrade my basics and move into that QL closet mode. I do find the occasional fabulous QL basic at Marshalls/TJMx and it's always a thrill when that happens for $20-30!

Thank you Erica, always brilliant advice. I have recently introduced more subtle patterns into my monochrome/solid colour outfits, I have bought a couple of striped tops from Massimo Dutti and I always buy neckties and scarves when I see a small muted pattern I like, they don't have to be expensive, for example I have bandanas in brown, grey, blue, etc. and they're just 99p. In the UK I found some lovely winter scarves in Primark, which is probably one of our cheapest stores. I don't buy anything from them apart from these scarves, hair accessories, make-up and basic T shirts, they're surprisingly good and very reasonably priced. But other than that I don't buy rubbish quality cheap clothing anymore, for example apart from denim, I find H&M really rubbishy and I'm even cautious about the usually good quality Marks & Spencer's because they've brought out the odd poor quality item lately and now I'm very careful to check the composition of every sweater and if something is not up to scratch, I return it immediately. It's sad to see previously reputable brands go downhill or the fast fashion route. Massimo Dutti is my go-to shop these days, it's owned by the company that owns Zara and is a more elevated version of Zara. Zara and Massimo Dutti made some great quality suede jackets this fall/winter 2024, compared to Cos or Arket or Veronica Beard they were very reasonably priced and I'm glad I invested in a couple of them, the cut is very classic and they'll last me forever. I put on weight recently, about half a stone so I'm working on losing it in time for spring-summer, it's so frustrating. I'm very petite and I only have to sniff at food to put on weight immediately. I no longer fit into most of my tailored clothes and jeans apart from denim skirts and wide leg jeans, really annoyed with myself.

A great video 😊. I think this is why I am having difficulty with the aforementioned ankle biker boots 😂 as I feel my style is very evergreen, preppy and slightly quirky occasionally, like an interesting button, an unexpected print on a sneaker. I do like skinny coated denim which would work with the boots and a cashmere sweater. I suppose the boots and the coated denim are my edgy vibes. I love a pulled together look, not trend, sporty, festival or the Scandi architect look which has been popular for ages. Are coated denim styles still relevant in your opinion? Whilst not trend led, I do like to be modern enough 😊.

I agree with Frame being great and they are very comfortable. I like Le Mini Boot in Film Noir as I think a solid black is more dressy than a washed black and Le High and Straight Long in their dark washes. I also love Citizens of Humanity which make very nice slim and straight leg and comfortable skinny varieties. Daphne, Skyla and Rocket Ankle are all good and their Evermore and De Nimes are very nice dark blues. I agree about the keeping the original hem advice as it really looks good 😊

If I have wider shoulders - same width or a touch narrower than my wide hips, small weist, average sized breasts, does it mean I'm hourglass or pear shaped? I can never find information on my body type.

Celebs dont always have great fashion sense. Love Witherspoon's solid navy top with the flowered skirt. Knee length for apples is great show off your legs.

The power of a good bra is phenomenal for confidence. I have had pacemakers since a teenager and my most recent is super prominent, which means bras dig into it and it hurts. I realise this a bit niche and I am young for a pacemaker but bras with straps which sit towards the edge of the shoulder are better for me. These bras look really nice, I love the hot pink. I just subscribed 😊

Great tips! Do you ever talk about which capsule items/foundation pieces should be made of specific fabrics for best investment, and which articles of clothing that even matters for?

I had a really long think about what I gravitate towards in terms of clothes and I did this also with jewellery. I thought about each item and what I liked about them and to describe them what were the words which came up again and again. I noticed a pattern emerge and my style hasn’t really changed but I know me more than I did, which is the first step. I can confidently say what my style and other secondary and tertiary styles are now. I agree about brands, it helps with fitting when you know your size. I do however like to occasionally try new brands as I am obsessed with good quality. Citizens of Humanity for example and Frame fit me nicely. Another great video and as an aside, I like how you are so calm and professional 😊

I really appreciate your content. For some reason this really helped me see my body in a better light. Up until now I've sort of viewed my size based on my hips, but now I can see my hips are bigger then the rest of me. (12 difference between my hips and waist). I would never ever have bought the styles you've recommended and I feel so excited to try new things!

This is my favorite apple shaped video. I find it difficult to find slim apple shaped references as most as slightly overweight but you included multiple sizes and I believe I fit in with this category! Equipment, Splendid, ATM, Alexander Wang all awful. Lauren by Ralph Lauren is terrible but the Polo range cashmere is good. I pay attention to zips, YKK being decent but they are mainly used on denim. I like Citizens of Humanity, Frame, APC, Maison Labiche, Velvet by Graham and Spencer, Jane Atelier-they are made in London and are beautifully made clothes, Burberry for cashmere and trench coats. Pringle are the best for cashmere. Sometimes paying a premium means it becomes cheaper cost per use.

I agree about finding your personal style. Once I did that (recently), it made the purging of my closet so much easier. I know the colors and the style of clothing I reach for over and over.

I’m sitting here with a pair of boots that I love but they’re just too small. I’ve been thinking of compromising and keep them. After watching I’ve decided to send them back. Oh and my size isn’t available so I can’t do an exchange. FOMO is a big part of this.
