Unrelated but I thought AD&D 2nd edition was peak and we really didnt need anything after that.

Now the real question is: Is Fat Neil related to Young Neil?

You say the creator bought a crate of his "old" D&D books, but go on to show images of new books, well new relative to the module they were playing in the episode which was clearly an older edition of the game, Advanced D&D (which was 1st edition and 2nd edition D&D pre the year 2000) those books you showed were 5e books, which started in 2014. I know it's a nit-pick, but otherwise, good video. I like this episode a lot too.

This episode was the best for many reasons. 1. every one of the main cast shined. 2. it showed the main cast interacting with someone else from the college in a meaningful way 3. the twist was completely unexpected with Jeff, 4. it played on the classic notion that Jeff and Pierce are very similar at their core, and let Jeff choose the better path and steer away from becoming pierce when he grows up, and we also got a glimmer of pierce not being so bad after all, just a very scared person not wanting to be left behind. And it did all of this with them hardly even getting up from "the desk"

This episode made Pierce irrideemable in my eyes, even with the supposed redemption at the end when Neil forgives him.

Hey. Just checking in, in 2024 to commemorate the fact that the Netflix' censoring of this episode does still, in fact, stand as the single most pathetic example of cynical commodified "anti-racist" pandering to date. They were not on the right side of history in 2020, and they are not on the right side of history now.

This and the paintball episodes are still my favourite episodes. But this thing is a writing masterpiece - because it actually shows a whole game of D&D and merges the motives of the players in the Community world with the characters they are playing in the D&D world so well - you're hanging on the edge of your seat! And it was SO funny, and so clever, and the references to Lord of the Rings music etc were so good.

I love this show. The cast and characters are amazing. They could make it 75% just them in the study room and it would still be great.

Best episode of the series, and Netflix removed it because they deemed it racist. 😆

i watched this show so many times as a teen and only as an adult did i really understand "that he wouldnt need them anymore" meant i always thought oh he lost interest" but jesus christ thats dark

one of the best community episodes, and the best depiction of a D&D session in any series ever.

I have the crazy theory that D&D is a symbol for the show Community itself, Fat Neil is Dan Harmon and Pierce is Chevy Chase and the episode mirrors the sense of competition Chevy instilled on Dan, which Chevy took personal while Dan always viewed as a game. And hence, Chevy learned very very little. And Dan Harmon went on to live (and have success while at it).

I absolutely love sitcoms and i love even more rpg's!!!! The first two minutes of the video already made me so excited to wathc it. I had a blast watching this episode without ever seeing community! Awesome video!!!

Chevy Chase is a total dick in real life, is why he fits as a total dick in the show so well.

This too is my favourite episode of Community, I’m so glad it got shoved onto my feed and I’m so so so upset that someone somewhere decided it was “racist” because Chang used some body paint and now the largest and most easily accessible streaming platform doesn’t host the episode. I’m glad we have things like plex and I hope as these streaming services get more and more greedy people will start voting with their wallet. Foxtel is dead, Netflix is next.

It's a good episode and I'll agree on that but Abed is very problematic as a DM this episode. He's not emphasizing fun for the players, he never uses the DM feature of fudging your rolls, he rolls for his players, he doesn't let Troy do a different action after telling him his additional notes have no effect and forces them into sexual encounters they specifically stated they were not comfortable with, I think Abed is a better DM in the second DND episode.

You almost feel bad for Chevy until you find out how much of a giant pos he's been his entire life.

While this episode is one of the best episodes of community, it's also referenced so many times later on through the series which makes some things confusing.

Except that they keep removing the episode from streaming platforms cos of drow cosplay

I totally forgot about this episode, i rewatched community and when i got to the d&d episode with Jonathan banks and felt something was missing. Found a random article today talking about the episode and i've rewatched it like 3 times today 😂
