Looking at getting a new KLR, which I really like, but I've been looking at the Tiger 900's and there is now some very good prices on slightly used bikes and now I noticed some nearly new 17-19 tiger 800 XCA's and XCX's for 7-9k, which is a bargain for such a nice machine, not to mention I think the 800's look better to me than the 900's. Great Bike n good review!

Great looking bike. Only the maintenance is more scary for me than the bike itself. €1300 for desmo maintenance every 30.000km is no joke.

This bike is brilliant I have one in South Africa. All terrain, and long long road trips. In comfort. The weight is not a problem. Even in really rugged off-road terrain in all weather conditions. Excellent bike

One concern I have is whether the height of the seat to the ground will be too much for me. You said you were not tall. How tall are you? I'm 5'10", or 178 cm.

This is probably an embarrassing question for a shorty to answer, but I'm also struck on this issue. I'm 170, which will probably put me on a NC750 again. Maybe just an indication on if we'll be fine on this horse? Thanks for the review.

Great review. Love that black. I had a 2017 CT DCT for 5 months and logged over 15,000 miles on it. I traded it in for my 2018 Goldwing DCT, non tour but that was the plan from the start. I didn’t get a chance to really ride this bike, and learn it because I knew I would be trading it in, but the riding I did on it was very impressive. I bought a 2010 VFR 1200F DCT to see what 170 bhp felt like and after Sabsteef flash, this bike became an ICBM, and lots of fun to ride. Unfortunately at 65 yrs old, my body can’t keep up with my ego, so I need to get something a little more comfortable, like the CT. Love my Goldwing and it’ll be my forever bike, but I want a dual sport that can be an all around bike. These are very well kept secret bikes and am fortunate that I came across one without knowing anything about it. Ride safe and here’s to another 5 years of safe riding! 🙏🏻🏍🙏🏻

How does it ride at very low throttle or off throttle? A couple of Africa Twins and an NT1100 I've tried were pretty bad filtering through traffic at 2750 revs. Felt like kangaroo petrol. Probably emissions making the fuel mapping far too lean. Apart from this, I lived the DCT. You've done a lot of miles - -h ow do you honestly find is this on the Crosstourer? Many thanks & keep up the good work... 👍

I never had any issues at low throttle or even off throttle and could maneuver the bike in controlled manner for almost stand still scenarios. Just got to be careful you don't open the gas by mistake :-) It it has happened to me couple of times but then you are quick on the brake. I guess the same can be said with the clutch if you let go to quickly by mistake :-)

That clunk putting it into first gear is Gone now by using Motul 7100 ester 4T engine oil 👍 I also flushed the stock coolant and put the blue Engine ice coolant & the difference is significant in heat reduction (30 degrees less) . I also swapped the stock chain with a new D.I.D Gold X-Ring one 👍

Listen here for god sake I am now 70 years young been riding since I was 16 years old did my first track day at 60 not proud of my times but hey it was my first time out ?? I view many many reviews of bikes and this one is not a bad review but sadly i decided to open my big mouth here and not at others !! NOT SURE WHY?? You can ride a Honda 50 c.c. and have fun and go around the world with probably less issues than any other bike if the truth were known . You can do the same on a 125 175 200 250 800 1000 1100 1200 get the drift Its all down to what you want / expect.. You get stuck in sand with a 1200 and i bet you wish you had a 50 c.c. you can drop a 1100 and wish you had a 125 etc etc etc On the motorway your 50 c.c. will drive you insane and on and on it goes BUT AND A BIG BUTIf you want a reasonably priced bike that is smooth to ride but a little heavy this is the bike for you Tust me it is VERY VERY VERY RELIABLE VERY VERY VERY WELL MADE AND TO BE HONEST A MISSED GEM You can keep your B.M.W.'s that are well over priced. This bike if you are not into 100%sports bikes will do all you need it to and more I would not swap mine for the world and no I am not an old git that just looks through rose tinted glasses you listen to me if you want to go touring and feel good after many many miles then this bike will not let you down If you want a fancy badge that costs a fortune and to be honest is no better go and get a B.M.W. just like their new cars living on history they are a joke and i just wish one of these chaps that do these so called reviews would give an honest appraisal for once !! My friend who has the German machine has spent a fortune on this so called fantastic stalion. Every time we go out something crops up but no its a BEMA so all will be well will it not SADLY NO IT WILL NOT !! When it does go down we need to hire a fucking crane to get it back on its feet When it does need a part we need a moratge BUT ITS A BEAM SO ALL IS WELL IS IT NOT !!! If you want alittle less weight but still a great bike but not as smooth then look no further than the Suzuki V strom Its a twin V format so not as smooth as I would like but still a great little machine and great great value for money It is also still made in Japan which says something does it not !! Anyway up to you but thats my review in one hit so good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am curios if you can answer me about the wind protection from the lower part of the bike, the cowl. Everybody is complaining about the wind on this bike, but i am wondering how is on the lower part of the body. Is the windshield cutting all the turbulences or just on the upper body?
@0to100Adventure
@0to100Adventure 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest it has been awhile since I tested the bike. I do remember that the wind protection was not great and that the screen did nothing to aid the rider. I would recommend that you test the comfort for yourself to see if it is acceptable because there is definitely bikes out there that offer better comfort as far as wind protection. Furthermore as with most bikes alternative options may be an options to look into to improve wind turbulence, like touring screen. Thanks for watching and good luck with your search.

I did a 2300 mile trip with the small screen. I have the low suspension model. I found the screen to be better than I thought. up to 70-75 mph not bad. Did get caught in the fog one morning and the small screen gave no protection.

Thinking about upgrading my VFR1200F to a Crosstourer. Had a Triumph Tiger 1200 before the VFR and loved it so I'm used to a top heavy Adv bike that probably won't see much off road but is great on road. Had the VFR1200F 3 years and normally I'd be changing bikes by about now, but I actually still like it, just a few issues that I think the Crosstourer could sort enough for me to keep for more years to come without needing to swap. Fuel range is currently around 120 miles which is pretty shit for a tourer, the Crosstourer should be closer to 190/200. Suspension comfort over bumpy roads. Longer travel suspension should mean I can either make quicker or more comfortable progress over bumpy roads, especially 2 up which I am A LOT. To keep the rear suspension from bouncing and wallowing over bumpy roads I've had to max out the preload and rebound which means the ride is pretty firm but manageable, any softer and it just bounces over bumpy roads and I have to slow down. Then after that it's mainly small details, riding position is more relaxed, rear tyre isnt an expensive 190/55, have TC (my 2011 doesn't have anything), turning circle massively improved, can fit meetier tyres so have the potential to do bigger tours, can fit crash bars no problem without drilling holes in a beautiful fairing. Loads of little things. Gonna have to test ride I think

The VFR is a good bike. I travelled to Norway last summer. The only issue I have had with my 1200 F is the seating position and the missing cruise control. The Crosstourer for me is too topheavy.
