Thank you for this. I’m writing a letter to my girlfriend trying to tie our love to each song and how some relate. I really hope she likes it and it wouldn’t of been possible without you. Thank you!

I recently wrote a 10-page paper comparing the story of IDMTHY to that of a Greek Tragedy, and it fit dead on. To me, the conceptual GUT WRENCH i experienced when listening to IDMTHY for the first time outweighs any level of polish he may have gained between then and his release of Scrapyard. I totally agree that Scrapyard is easier to replay and listen to in general but digging into the lyrical content and overarching themes of IDMTHY turned it into one of my favorite albums EVER. great video tho

Guess who as least favorite track is crazy💀 I usually hate songs like it, but even I think it goes SO HARD. I find it almost a perfect song in it's own right, partially because it stands out so much compared to the other songs he makes now

just not my cup of tea, Knots and Uh Huh are other similar quadeca songs that I can understand the love for, just not my type of music.

@@tristanposts Personally for me, that's TEXAS BLUE. I genuinely find that song so mid, it's bottom 2 on scrapyard for me along with I MAKE IT LOOK EFFORTLESS. I don't know which I like less.
@fidboi2715
@fidboi2715 Ай бұрын
SCRAPYARD is amazing, but his best project to date? Nah, IDMTHY is still better. That's my own opinion, but Quadeca also agrees. SCRAPYARD's lack of conceptual continuity let's it create iconic single's which is also great and quadeca uses that format amazingly as well, but the lack of an overarching concept holds it back as well.
@tristanposts
@tristanposts Ай бұрын
Despite it not having a concept to take it throughout. The songs are more polished then IDMTHY and I feel that its replayability also pushes it just ahead of IDMTHY.
@fidboi2715
@fidboi2715 Ай бұрын
@@tristanposts It's somewhat of a preference thing here as well I think. SCRAPYARD has more diversiity and the songs work EXTREMELY well when standing on their own outside their albums. They're just more easily digestible because of that. But I and many others(including Quadeca) just think that the conceptual story adds extra weight and gravitass to each song. I also disagree because of that that SCRAPYARD is more replayable. I've become very attached to the overall story of IDMTHY to the point where I still listen to songs from that album every day just to put myself back into it. Meanwhile with SCRAPYARD I usually go back to it when I'm like "hmmm I wanna hear that song rn" which doesn't happen as often. So yeah it's just completely personal preference in that regard. Some people like the added weight an overall concept and story adds to an album, some people prefer the freedom, diversity and polish that comes from a lack of one.

i gotta give to you, i loved this whole video essay trilogy! you’ve almost captured each albums feel with each explanation and provided thought provoking insights with a few songs. loved all of it. my only complaint, admittedly being a biased one, would have to be not going a bit more in depth with a few of my favorites. noticeably missing would be ‘know love, 4 seasons, waiting room, and never had the balls. nonetheless, i hope you keep making these videos! they were a joy to watch and think about. thank you for your wonderful creation :) might i suggest another trilogy of albums. lizzy mcalpines give me a minute, five seconds flat, and older. despite being different, the themes and maturity in lyrics are beautiful to witness as you listen to each. anyways, keep up the great work! definitely earned yourself a sub.
